Tried to combine the different charcoals using both their strengths to my advantage. Quite pleased with the outcome to be honest. I hope you do to because there will be more of these.

I wouldnt call different styles cookie cutter just different styles like more realistic for example? I see what you mean though and am very happy you enjoyed the drawing as much as I do

Define the nostrils via surrounding tones rather than sharp, dark lines. Other than that it's beautiful.

.of course theres many ways to express art. I had always been taught and taught in different mediums to start basic and then refine. That you should be able to convey with the work at the start, that its foundation is what tugs at the soul, the details are candy. Someone can be great at detail but if they arent able to do the foundation properly then it misses the mark. Granted I just have a small very humble opinion but I think you nailed it. Never doubt that you should pursue art in some fashion for a lifetime. Lol, I hope that will stick with you over the years. I'm 60 and I denied my art for a few decades and came to regret it terribly. Don't waste your time my friend,

It is difficult, I was working fulltime and in animation school over my head. Started realising my folks were suffering from some age related ailments, I finally burned out. Wanting back into 3d, just not to land a job one day, that wont ever happen. But I missed it so much, the joy.
