I just love you for doing this cosplay. Not many people do this one of Miku (and it's one of my favourites) or they don't even realize it IS Miku (one person called me a liar and an idiot on a forum and said it was Teto... .____.).
I like to think of this design as being up to the cosplayer.
I personally plan to do this with blue hair (like the Sandplay wig) and add some more creepy aesthetics (like bones, skulls, and more lace).
Some constructive criticism I can give is makeup work at the moment since I can't see the full look. I suggest not using eyeshadow for the black parts and possibly purple. I recommend going to get Maybelline EyeStudio creme liner. They have it in black and eggplant (a purple colour. lolol not Gakupo though). Alot of this cosplay is makeup and aesthetics. I doesn't matter if you have the correct dress, wig, or accessories (well it does but what I mean is if you have the basic idea for all 3) ... what sells it is the insane makeup and, if you can manage, props- like a cheesecake topped with candy eyes or a "blood martini" with an "eye" for an olive.
I plan on doing a makeup tutorial for this look (and only makeup being that I don't have my costume started at all).

hdflkjhskj THANKYOU.you are so incredible for giving such a thought-out critique!I'll be going to this make-up place an hour away from were i live soon (heh) to get some grey bodypaint,so will do!I was really just using a bunch of make-up i already had.I like the idea of purple,but i kinda want to stick to that most popular fan-art,because i like her patches and red hair n stuff.I did multiple trials with the makeup when it looked epic without the wig,but then the wig came on and it got completely washed out T.T.Also someone told me it was Teto as well,but i mean seriously....miku sings the song >.< how stupid can some people be?When i plan out the photoshoot for this,im going to get all kinds of cool candy,so look forward to that

I don't know what popular fanart you're looking at but all the ones I've seen have her skin tone as more gray and purple patches. I mean, purple makes sense because of bruised and rotting flesh. But the use whatever colours you want (I know what picture you're talking about though. As long as it matches the hair in some amount).
The biggest reason I say to use creme liner is because it's BOLD and doesn't look like you're sweating it off. Shadow doesn't cover and appear as face paint- ya know? Sometimes it shows skin through the "coverage".
I'm going to work on it over the weekend to the best of my abilities ahaha I'll put on my blue Miku wig just so people see how it CAN be used with blue hair too

some people have difficulties with creme liner and give up because they're eyes/skin aren't used to it
I admit, it's a pain at first but... it so much nicer of a finish once you practice with it

Oh yea, it feels so weird at first lol and... I should have told you that you need makeup wipes/remover to get it off XD so sorry ahaha

I only suggest makeup. ...seems like a reoccurring thing.
Makeup is just as important in cosplay as the right wig, the correct outfit and all that la-di-da
Panty, for example, should have sexy makeup. The smoky eye would look great on her. My Stocking makeup is going to have alot of black, purple and pink with BIG doll eyelashes and plush lips. Maybe even some gothic blush.

I'm working on Black Rock Shooter, Lily the Vocaloid, and the original Sailor Moon for March. My extra outfit is for March as well. It's a Visual Kei outfit I plan to wear to a concert of my favourite J-Rock band at the convention. My friend is coming with me to that one and she's pairing up with me for cosplays. She's being Dead Master, Iroha Nekomura the Vocaloid, and Sailor V. Then I think she's making a Lolita outfit for the concert.
Then, In July, I'm taking Black Rock Shooter with me and making my Stocking cosplay. My Dead Master is coming with me again and we should have a Black Gold Saw and my sister is hopefully going to be Strength. We're entering the cosplay competition with the BRS cosplays. And then my friend is being Brief for the Panty & Stocking group. We should have Panty, Stocking, Brief, Garterbelt and Chuck. We're working on getting the Demon Sisters- Scanty and Kneesocks too.
