Description
A commish for a friend who is writing a fic and this will be the cover art. I hope you like and any suggestion is welcome!Thanx for the favs and comments!

Emotional pictures like this aren't exactly original, but it's all about how well you can present it. Overall, I believe this is pretty good.
I think you did the background and backlighting fairly well. It can be a difficult light source to work with, and you seem to know how to work with it. However, on the edges where it's bright, a little less contrast there could add a lot of smoothness to their forms, giving some solidity and less of a flat appearance.
The necks are a bit too thick and the manes are too thin-like, and some more definition could do a lot for their appearance with a few corrections there. The oddities throw off their heads a bit.
Furthermore, and this may be up to taste really, eye size can do a lot for the appearance of ponies. A bit bigger in this case would make a huge difference, but this is simply personal preference. It's all about what sort of stylistic portrayal you are comfortable with.
In any case, the background is excellently done, and the tears, while a bit exaggerated, also look nice and fall appropriately off their cheeks. The use of a sunset is a great choice, creating a calm, warm atmosphere that fits the color scheme of the two and amplifies the mood.
The whole package captures the emotion of their assumed separation. I certainly hope you'll do more ponies in the future.
