Description
EDIT: Double-size version for people with super-duper-high-res monitors here: April2020 Part1 Doublesize
Color theory is a weird thing. Also, a theory. But probably also a science?
I at least haven't heard of something called "color science" before, but that might also be because I'm living under a rock sometimes.
There was an interesting video from Technology Connections recently on how the color "brown" does not actually exist. And while the use of the word "exists" might be a bit far-fetched there, the guy does bring up some pretty good points about how we identify colors as what they are, and how that is often heavily influenced by context.
I always enjoy thinking back to my old teachers who claimed that the opposite of "colorful" would be "uncolorful", rather than "monochrome". Only much later did I realize what exactly they meant by that, and how much it can affect our perception of a picture.
Needless to say, my art became a lot easier to look at after that.

Alodo made this and is the owner of the shown character "Alodo".

I mean, I mentioned it in the description, but maybe I should actually drop a link instead. =v='
youtu.be/wh4aWZRtTwU <- This is the video I was talking about, and it explores this whole "brown is just really dark orange" pretty extensively.
That said, not sure if there's more popular sources of this knowledge.

Silly Alodo. Green is the ultimate color. Coz if you don't have any green you're a second class citizen anywhere in the world.

I think color theory is kinda easy to explain...kinda so for example I believe the theory is if you have a red ball youβd put a blue background vise versaΒ

I mean, you don't have to put a blue background, you just need to create some form of contrast, if you want to tell the two apart. Which, if all aspects of color but its hue were removed, yes, you're right, that'd probably lead to the most achievable contrast.
Or in other words: Drawing pictures for colorblind people is complicated. =v='

Best way to define colors is through nanometer wavelength. Granted, that leaves out purple, pink, brown, etc.Β

I can never quite believe the fact that everything around us is just craptons of super-high-speed waves of non-existant materials going all over the place. =v='
I would claim that this would be way too much information to take in, but then again, I'm currently reading the text on this screen with no problem so... maybe I'm just overthinking things.

Maybe Alodo lives in a CMYK world rather than our RGB world...Β

Hey! Does Alodo have a problem with Green? Well, he should take it up with Blue and Yellow - they're the primaries, and without either of them, we'd be Greenless! It's not easy bein' Green, ya know!

I mean, technically, blue and cyan shouldn't be confused with one another either, given that "blue" is part of the base for additive color mixing (such as in case of your monitor lights, which use RGB pixels to fake other colors into existence, "creating" light), while "yellow" is part of the base for subtractive color mixing (such as in case of printers, which use CMYK, where the resulting color "absorbs" light).
Though me blindly repeating the contents of my art lessons from 20 years ago aside, *hands ballgag*. This one's better, it has buckles.
