Contest entry for I chose my all-time favorite Disney character ever, Pinocchio, and his voice actor, Dickie Jones (around age 11, when he began recording)

Born in 1927, Dickie Jones was a child star who did tons of Westerns (including Buffalo Bill, Jr. in the 1950s TV show), which is why I decided he should be in a cowboy outfit in the picture. At age 11, he provided the voice of Pinocchio. He's still alive today, and did promotional work for the recent release of Pinocchio on DVD. He is considered a Disney Legend.

Pinocchio has always been my favorite character and film made by Disney, and I think the voice acting by Jones adds so much to the character. He's positively adorable, and I think the voices play off each other so incredibly well, which is something you don't see in modern works.

This piece was a real challenge...I've never had much lucky drawing in "Disney style", but every time I attempted Pinocchio he just turned out...wrong! I decided his adorableness was captured best in Walt's original style, so that's what I went with. Then, I couldn't very well have Dickie drawn in the "anime-ish" style I had drawn him in, so he got "Disney-fied" too. I also opted for no shading to add to the Disney feel ^__^
