Description This is the first half of a Zombie brusquer I did for a class. The cover art I found here on DA. “Zombies” by El-grimlock. The text was taken from “Zombie Survival guide” by Max Brooks. The other Image that is not used as a background is “Zombies” by Vampiric-Beast. As for the blood splattered backgrounds… The one used as the enhancer for the reader (a.k.a. the visible fold) and background under “Outbreak” is “Shad0ws Blood Brush Set” by Shad0w-GFX. The one on the bottom of the brusquer, under “Top 10 Lessons for Surviving a Zombie Attack” is “Blood” by Scully7491.

Each set of stars indicates the page it is on:

*A Survivors Guide to:
WHEN ZOMBIES ATTACK!

**Knowing Your Enemy:

Physical Abilities:
Zombies where thought to have supernatural abilities, such as super strength, Telepath, super speed, etc., but this is not true. If a human can’t do it, neither can a zombie.
Sight:
The undead see no better then us. How their eyes transfer images to the brain is unknown, however it is true that their ability to search for food is incredible. If they can tell their own kind from humans is still up for debate.

Sound:
Zombies do have excellent hearing, but nothing better then humans. The difference is they can pick up high and low frequencies that we can’t. They are attracted to sound. No matter what is making it. That is more then likely why they end up in groups.

Taste:
Zombies, like humans, have taste buds. They seem to prefer human flesh to those of other creatures. Their bodies also respond to flesh that is older then 18 hours. They will reject it. That and cadavers that have been embalmed.

***Touch:
Zombies have no physical sensation. All nerves remain dead after reanimation. This is where they have a large advantage over humans. We have a part of the brain that tells us we are in pain, therefore are in danger. Until a zombie is killed they do not register pain at all. That is why a whole clip can get in them and they keep coming.

Sixth Sense:
How is it zombies can still hunt after sensory organs have been destroyed? Some theories state that the reanimation may trigger a sense forgotten by evolution. This is still up for massive debate in the research of the undead.

****How To Kill Them:

It is know that if you wish to kill a zombie you must destroy the brain. This can be done in a variety of ways. Here is a list of easy to find weapons:

For the average household (Urban, Suburban, Rural):

Pots and/or pans
Sporting equipment (Hockey Sticks, Baseball bats, Cricket bats, etc.)
Hand Gun (9mm)
Kitchen knives (Butcher would be best)
Fire Place Poker
Pump-Action Shot Gun
Toaster
Auto mobile
Slamming their head in the door
Shovel
Rake
Sword

These are things that will increase your chance of survival if you have with you.

Symptoms:

* Hour 1: Pain and discoloration (brown-purple) of the infected area. Immediate clotting of the wound (provided the infection came from a wound).
* Hour 5: Fever (99-103° F), chills, slight dementia, vomiting, acute pains in the joints.
* Hour 8: Numbing of extremities and infected area, increased fever (103-106° F), increased dementia,

*****loss of muscular coordination.
* Hour 11: Paralysis in the lower body, overall numbness, slowed heart rate.
* Hour 16: Coma
* Hour 20: Heart stops. Zero brain activity.
* Hour 23: Reanimation.

Outbreak:

Although each zombie attack is different, given the number, terrain, reaction of the general populace, etc., its level of intensity can be measured in four distinct classes.

Class 1:

This is a low-level outbreak, usually in a third world country or first world rural area. The number of zombies in this class of outbreak ranges between one and twenty. Total human casualties (including those infected) range from one to fifty. The total duration, from the first case to the last (known), will range between twenty-four hours and fourteen days. The infested areas will be small, no longer then twenty-mile radius. In many cases natural boundaries will determine its limits. Response will be light, either exclusively civilian or with some additional help from local law enforcement. Media coverage will be light, if present at all. If there is media coverage, look for
common stories like homicides or
“accidents.” This is the most common type of outbreak and also the easiest to go unnoticed.

******Class 2:

Urban or densely populated rural areas are included in this level or outbreak. Total zombies will range between twenty and one hundred. Total human casualties may reach as high as several hundred. The duration of a Class 2 attack may last no longer then a Class 1 Outbreak. In some cases, the larger number of zombies will spark a more immediate response. A rural, sparsely populated outbreak may extend to a hundred-mile radius, while an urban outbreak my encompass only several blocks. Suppression will almost certainly be highly organized. Bands of civilians will be replaced by local, state, even federal law enforcement. Look for additional, if low-level military response, the National Guard in the United States or its equivalent abroad. Most often, so as to ease panic, these units will take a more noncombatant role, providing medical assistance, crowd control, and logistical support. Class 2 outbreaks almost always attract the press. Unless the attack occurs in a truly isolated area of the world, or one where the media is strictly controlled, the story will be reported. This does not mean, however, that it will be reported accurately.

Class 3:

A true crisis. Class 3 outbreaks, more then any other, demonstrate the clear threat posed by the living dead. Zombies will number in the thousands, encompassing an area of hundreds of miles. The duration of the attack and possible lengthy
mop-up process could last as long as

*******several months. There will be no chance for a press block-out or cover-up. Even without media attention, the sheer magnitude of the attack will leave too many eyewitnesses. This is a full blown battle, with law enforcement replaced by units of the regular military. A state of emergency will be declared for the infested zone, as well as the
neighboring areas. Expect martial law, restricted travel, rationed supplies,
federalized services, and strictly monitored communication. All these measures, however, will take time to implement. The initial phase will be one of chaos as those in power come to grips with the crisis. Riots, looting, and widespread panic will add to their difficulties, further delaying an
effective response. While this is
happening, those living within the infested area will be at the mercy of the undead. Isolated, abandoned, and
surrounded by ghouls, they will have only themselves to depend on.

Class 4:

Worldwide. There will be nowhere to run. This is when it will be up to you if you live or die. No military or
government will step in.

********Top 10 Lessons for Surviving a Zombie Attack

1. Organize before they rise!
2. They feel no fear, why should you?
3. Use your head: cut off theirs.
4. Blades don’t need reloading.
5. Ideal protection = tight clothes, short hair.
6. Get up the staircase, then destroy it.
7. Get out of the car, get onto the bike.
8. Keep moving, keep low, keep quiet, keep alert!
9. No place is safe, only safer.
10. The zombie may be gone, but the threat lives on.

With these lessons in mind you should survive Z-Day.

Aw. Now my writing a zombie story titled "Zombie Survival Guide" doesn't seem original anymore. And I didn't even copy the name off his book, either. Dammit.

And do you recommend any specific art schools? I'm kind of clueless about where I wanna go when I get to that age point.

lol, I condensed the book for that project.

Do not go to the art institute. They are really good at presenting themselves, but they are an $80G waste. If art is what you want to do, check out fine art degrees at universities or even Community colleges.

I couldn't find this book I wanted to read it so badly and I couldn't find it.

I read "World War Z" by Max Brooks; the actual interviews after the zombie invasion.

I loved it; he puts so much detail and realism into his writing. He makes a zombie outbreak seem almost believable.
