They look really nice, especially those with the black binding. It gives such a nice contrast to the rest of the cover. But I think the red one looks nicest, with the two complimentary reds.

At a professional school for bookbinders and book conservators.
But this techinique is really simple, you can find goos explanation with lot of iamges in this book; [link]
