From "Rarity Takes Manehattan", Coco Pommel was an employee under a plagiarist bitch, Suri Polomare, who stole Rarity's designs and claimed them for her own. Coco had been taught that it's everypony for themselves and one must do what is necessary to survive. After meeting Rarity and her friends, she discards Suri's philosophy and quits working under her. Coco throws it all away to tell Rarity the truth behind Suri's scheme and that she actually won the fashion design contest. In the end, Rarity, having won, was given the offer to design the outfits for some upcoming Bridleway shows, but seeing Coco with nowhere else to go, passes the position on to her, allowing her to live out her dream.

Ever since I saw Suri I knew she would be a bitch. Though I'm glad Coco got given the position from Rarity. Heh better than being under that bitch Suri that's for sure.
