funnily enough, originally religion is not for the living but for the dead. People started worshipping gods, because they are afraid to die and they donΒ΄t know what will be in the afterlife. And just in CASE there is some sort of mighty creature ruling the afterlife it cannot hurt to be nice to it, while one is still living
