I needed a break from the "Letters" - so I did this digital drawing, using my tablet; wanted to try that for ages

I thought, it would be quicker then traditional drawing, but it isn´t. You have some advantages, like being able to trace from reference-photos in the background, where you can get cool hand- or foot-positions easily, but Kyoko is too individual for tracing ( I don´t know any girls that look like her) and if one should be able to recognise her, I have to draw her with all her features from scratch - for Kyoko this technique is no time-saver. She´s slimmer then a human and her face cannot be achieved by changing a traced image, her feet are basically fantasy - at least I haven´t met a woman with feet as perfect as Kyoko´s
I have tried changing a traced image into Kyoko and I´ve failed. Her eyes are about three times as big as human eyes, which means, that the whole proportions in the face must be changed to make them match the eyes, or it looks just wrong. And of course, there is her typical jewellery, her ears, the tail and her typical breasts...

Anyway, it was interesting to try out and it answered a lot of questions, how so many digital artists come up with great looking results quickly, even if they are incapable of holding a pencil...

To each his own - it´s just a technique and I won´t knock it. The saying in german goes "A crow doesn´t pick another one´s eye". In the end it´s the result that counts. But I will stick to the traditional way, even if I throw in a speedpainting picture now and then... and even if that means two to three hours per panel of the "Letters"
