Description Original quote: "Isn't it insulting to the average male's intelligence to think that surgery is preferable because he can't be entrusted with washing his genitals, when somehow he manages to brush his teeth, clean his ears and blow his nose?" Original Source, as far as I know

I really dislike the pro-circumcision argument that falls along the lines of, "If he's cut, it'll be easier for me/him to clean."

Despite what you might think, cleaning an intact penis is not difficult .

This is how simple it is, really:
1) Gently pull the foreskin back
2) Rinse with warm water only. Soap under the foreskin can cause irritation and swelling
3) Pull the foreskin back in place over the head of your penis.

Infancy - early childhood:
Only the outside of the intact penis needs to be rinsed with warm water.
Foreskin should NOT be retracted during cleaning.

Age of 5/6
Boys should be taught to retract their own foreskins once a week and rinse with warm water.
Boys might not be able to fully retract until aged 10 or more, but this is normal.

If you would like to learn more about why you should not have your child circumcised, feel free to drop by *Seitar 's group, #EndCircumcision !

Foreskin is part of the penis, that makes sex easier and feel better, and it's a very normal part of the body.Β  Parents generally get that part cut off- which is circumcision- when the male is an infant.Β  Usually a newborn.

Getting it cut causes trauma in the baby, is linked to emotional and mental problems in the future and is entirely pointless.Β  They don't numb the baby; they just use scissors and chop it off.

They use excuses like "It's cleaner." but, as you can see in the description above, it's not.Β  Boys just need to be taught how to clean it.Β  The REAL reason they do it is because it's what everyone else is doing.

babies cannot retain memory until at least two years old..it would not traumatize them if they did not remember.
I was in a car crash when I was a baby...I did not remember, nor am I traumatized.

Oh right. Hmm. Nobody teaches this stuff at the school in our area so quite honestly I know nothing about sex the only thing I know is sperm+egg=baby in the womb. :"D

I do need to look into that sometime though this is important for my future right hmm. Danke for answering,

uncircumcised males have higher risk of getting hiv and transmit several disgusting diseases easier. Cleaning doesn't help that much. I'm sure more men would choose circumcision if they knew all the pros. Sad story.

These beliefs are based on older flawed studies www.huffingtonpost.com/ali-a-r…

And even if there is the tiniest chance that it does protect by a few % Β that doesn't make it right in any way to chop it off without consent! A more education about STD's and contraception is what works, not surgical genitalia modifications! It actually scares me a bit that there are people walking on this earth thinking they have a much lower chance of getting STD's because they are circumcised and there fore might be less inclined to use condoms...Β

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Tandenfee In reply to Baraturts [2013-08-21 12:37:03 +0000 UTC]

Baraturts In reply to Tandenfee [2013-08-21 14:15:10 +0000 UTC]

Okay, I had to use Google Translate there, which doesn't do a very good job so I barely understood your reply... But I got most of it and condoms, if used CORRECTLY (properly put on, fitting size chosen, not using old condoms that can rip etc. again, all we need is education), are a highly efficient protection against both pregnancy and all STD's! www.cdc.gov/condomeffectivenes…

Again, you are using misinformation that is sadly pushed forward by pro-circ and abstinence groups. This is my last comment on the subject, my point remains that if there's no proper reason to remove a body part, then it should not be removed! It's a violation of humans rights to have a saying in what happens to their own body!

This reminds me of the hypocrisy of genital mutilation.

So it's okay to remove a boy's foreskin without his consent because of hygiene issues, but it's totally cruel to do anything that makes a girl's labia bleed without her consent.

Urg... People are so ridiculous about circumcision it makes me sick. I am not going to do that to my child. If he decides to take it off later, that is fine with me. I like my lover just the way he is and am happy he is not circumcised. Not everyone sees it as disgusting, I think it's beautiful and shows he can care for himself just fine.

That particular grouping of words is something that people REALLY need to understand! It should always be his choice unless there's a serious medical reason behind it! Same thing for girls!

So basically you're pro-removing-part-of-someone-else's-body-part-just-because-you-personally-don't-like-the-looks-of-it.

That's like being pro-foot-amputation just because you don't like feet.

Quite frankly, I don't like foreskin. I find it rather unattractive, but I'm not so vain as to simply dislike a mans genitals simply due to aesthetics. However, I have known a fair number of men that only clean their genitals about once a week, sometimes even less than that. I find that absolutely disgusting. As such, I will not let an uncut man be intimate with me, I cannot trust that he cleans himself properly and often enough. However, I am also picky about cut men as well. Dirty genitals are not appealing, and men with foreskin are more likely to be dirty.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Nekromanda In reply to CommandirBalalaika [2012-12-16 10:08:55 +0000 UTC]

That's entirely your own preference, and I don't think it's a terrible thing to know what you like and what you don't like. It becomes a problem, though, when such likes and dislikes infringe on the rights of someone who cannot say otherwise (i.e., infants) in ways that permanently change their bodies in ways they may not appreciate later on in life.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CommandirBalalaika In reply to Nekromanda [2012-12-16 17:10:06 +0000 UTC]

Precisely, that is why I wont make that choice for another, it's simply not my place. I will pick among the ones that the choice was made for, either cut or uncut.

sweetaffections In reply to ??? [2012-11-26 14:39:01 +0000 UTC]

Well if more men would properly clean it, I think there would be a lesser amount of people who dont like uncut men. Every uncut Ive seen, either looked gross or smelt gross. So now its a no no for me.

Ugh, here in my country (Philippines) when a man is not circumcised he is considered unclean or other guys poke fun at the poor man.

I think this is because of my country's attachment to the Roman Catholic religion.

How To Wash Your Uncircumcised Dick .

Apparently you're not supposed to use soap because it messes with the PH levels, but yeah either way - it's not very hard haha.

I'm almost certain that you are not supposed to use soap, you're just supposed to pull it back for a few seconds when you shower - but only after the foreskin has naturally retracted, so this wouldn't apply to infants and young children.
