Description It's interesting how some people occasionally think that freedom of speech means that THEY get to have their say, and that it means that NOBODY ELSE can say anything about what they said.

Freedom of Speech isn't a one way street.

Yes, you are free to have your say. But that doesn't mean that I have to sit by and hold my tongue. No, if you say something particularly stupid, people are gonna call you out on it. It might offend you or make you angry, but baby, that's freedom for ya.

Yeah, that's one thing that I thought was particularly interesting - the guy's african, and he was saying women shouldn't be allowed to vote. I don't know if he realizes that not so long ago, people were saying the exact same thing about people of his race. It's pretty funny how easy it is to forget what achievements have been accomplished by the people before you, isn't it? Maybe he should remember that next time he's going of on his almost comedic "women be votin" rants.

I know. Maybe he should do alittle more research before spewing shit.

You know, Just a sujestion, but that would be a good stamp.

I hope one of my recent comments one of your other stamps didn't imply this. I assure you I didn't mean it that way. And since then I rather wished I had left the last paragraph of that comment out.

Hehe, don't worry, no I don't think that your comment implied it at all! It was someone else entirely in a different stamp, so no worries there, hehe!

I had that problem a lot with a christian once :/ whatever I said was wrong and whatever she said was right,
she even told me that the wars (that religions created) I told her about were false assumptions and that I made it up ... -_- I understand if people say something back and I listen to both sides then, but I hate it when others think you can't say something back

That's usually how conversations with some Christian folks tend to go unfortunately D: It's just easier for some people to shut their ears to things that challenge their beliefs sometimes

My biggest problem with the whole "freedom of speech" thing is that people think it is a bully-pass. Which infuriates me. Freedom of speech was created so people can voice their opinions on a political spectrum without fear of being arrested, it was not created so people can call others names, dehumanize other people, or tell them that they should go die because they are (gay, atheist, fat, disabled, handicapped (I put both because you can be both or one or the other), look different, and on and on and on). It's especially frustrating when politicians use Freedom of Speech as an excuse to bully others. It's a two way street, yes, but there are regulations for that street that people like to pretend don't exist.

That's very true. On tumblr, people have been sharing screencaps of "Christians" tweeting that atheists need to be lined up and shot, that they are ruining this country (the US), etc etc. It's like, jeez, what happened to people being civil to each other?

This This so much.

I am so tired whenever a person on tv or on deviantart or somewhere else makes a speech on how women shouldn't have any rights, how gays are monsters that deserve to go to jail, how religious/atheist people are stupid and wrong, how there was never a Holocaust, how cool hating blacks are,

someone post up how much they disagree with that how much of an idiot said person is there is always someone commenting
hey hey but he or she has the right to freedom of speech''

yes and so do the rest of the world who don't have to agree or respect her or his opnion.

Freedom of speech is not an okay ticket to spout any nonsense without getting any flack for it. Freedom of speech goes both ways meaning you are allowed to say whatever you want but so are people who don't agree with you.

Well said! In one of my recent stamps someone was "standing up" for the right to free speech of a guy who was going off about how women shouldn't have the right to vote. They just didn't seem to grasp the idea that free speech isn't a protective shield that means nobody is allowed to say anything about that person's opinion.

Yeah I saw that one I thought it was such a pointless comment consider you didn't say anything like' this guy is not allowed to have his freedom of speech'you just discussed the points and flaws in his argument. I felt the user was just commenting on that for the sake of defending politcaly incorrect speech or lets just call it woman-hate speech because that is what it is.

I think you're right. That person in particular only comes out of the shadows to comment on my stamps when they pertain to anything having to do with women, soo.... lol.

Yes I pointed out to this person she/he might as well post this comment on other stamps like anti-Obama stamp she/he did not respond :/

I just felt it was very pointless.

Ah yeah, I see. Yeah, I agree, his/her comment was very odd and unnecessary lol!

Well sure, you got people that'll call you out for opinions and stupid stuff, but there is also another reason. I don't think the U.S. allows people to yell "Fire! Fire! Fire!" in the theater for fear of gunfire.
