it's in the oldest versions of jewish, even some that predates jewish and the earliest versions of christianity until he was written off cuz he made you think to much and christians hate that, I only read bits and pieces about Luci VS God theres different versions of why and that was enough Lucifer was overall the better thing it's not a discriminatory bastard like god it hates everyone EQUALLY, and I'm all for equality he doesn't care about your race, gender, sexual preference, or religion he has no love for humans nor though will he abandon them as humans are evil and belong to him, and his view of humans are disgusting and all need to die now, I really agree with that one

I don't know about the bible god, but... all the people who believe in god have a different view on them and for some people god seems really like love itself, for others they're just a grumpy old man living in the sky who hates everybody and everything and wants to send all people to hell.
For me god's kinda neutral.

"Believe me" is not an argument.
I'm a bit short on time at the moment but if you can you should watch this 11 min. video of Sam Harris on the morality of Christianity

Quick request - please try to type in complete sentences... It's hard to understand what you're trying to say when you're talking in run-on sentences with no punctuation.
Anyway back on topic -- Why can't God help everything? I thought he was supposed to be all-powerful?

What evidence do you have to show for your claims about God? Just wondering.

What evidence is there that shows that he gave his son?
If your answer is "The Bible" then what is the evidence that proves that the Bible is true?
This image should show you where I'm going with this. (Circular reasoning is a fallacy.)

Studies have shown that people of ANY FAITH will get better if they have faith.
Also, I believe that A god, not necessarily the Christian god, started the universe with the Big Bang, and tweaked the Evolution of the universe so that life could evolve.

I am glad that your family is alive, but that's not the point.
I do understand where you're coming from, and I'm fine with your beliefs.
It's okay to believe in God; I'm not hating you for believing.
The big Bang follows my beliefs, that's all.
And I'm just always the person who says something that she doesn't mean, and that she'll regret later.
I don't wand to start a war here, so I'll leave you alone from now on.

ive been reading stories in reverse (ie: normal: spot jumped on the cat. then in reverse: spot did a backward flip off a cat. )
so in the old testement in reverse:
eve regurgitates an apple. "God" gets so pissed off he takes a day off... THEN DESTROYS THE WORLD!!!

Oooh someone actually came out and said it! Someone had the guts to go there! I love you!
That's been running through my head for a long time. Winners of a battle get to write the history and all that yeah? I've actually considered writing a book on that theory but I don't really want to be murdered by haters for simply proposing an interesting concept. Its a good plot-idea at the very least you have to admit.

Wherever you go, whatever you do, there will always be someone that disagrees. I say nevermind the haters, go on and say what you feel needs to be said. If it inspires you, then go for it! And if people hate on it, use their complaints to fuel your creative fire.

Well, just a bunch of the things in the Bible strike me as terrible. Adam and Eve for example...
-He made them imperfectly, without being able to tell the difference between good and evil
-He placed a forbidden tree in the middle of Eden
-He told the imperfect creations that had no concept of right or wrong, nor of death, that if they ate the fruit from the forbidden tree they would surely die on that day
-Got mad when the imperfect creations which had no concept of right or wrong ate the fruit
-Punished them for disobeying an order that they were utterly incapable of obeying anyway because of the way that he designed them in the first place
-And lied, straight off the bat, by not killing them on the same day they ate the fruit like he said they would.
It's just a small example, but it sets the tone for the rest of the Bible, which only gets worse.

Looking into the book itself, seeing gods actions... it doesn't seem like he's the "good guy" in any way, shape or form. *shakes head*
Most people are too busy cherry-picking out all the "good" things, and leave out things like Moses scattering blood on an altar, or god saying himself he's a "lord of war."
[link]
There's also this article contrasting the differences between god and the so-called "bad guy," Satan. Seems like god doesn't do too good a job defending himself.

That's an awesome link, thank you for sharing it with me!
I definitely agree on the cherry-picking of 'good' things. I mean, the bible does have some decent parts. Some decent morals to teach. But there's just so much of it that's just... gory. I mean, I am surprised when Christians band together in defiance of X Y or Z tv show's 'excessive violence' and all that, when their own holy book is full of some of the worst atrocities that you could imagine. :/

I think the only moral we should even really take from the bible is "thou shall not kill."
But really, even in that sense... "God" doesn't follow his own rules. As well, where should we hold on the limit of that rule? I know a few people who deserve to be killed.

Well...I guess we all better be really, really bad then...right? But if God was a bad guy shouldn't he come and stomp out the earth like a pesky ant hole? OR, maybe he enjoys watching us fall prey to our faults in human nature. In that case love, charity, acceptance, loyalty and all that stuff must really upset him.

Let's take a quick look, there is a Disney villain named Judge Frollo, who was corrupted by Religion. Yep, "god"'s the bad guy here, some people people are driven to madness by this figment of the imagination.

God is kind of the bad guy - he (well, IT) did give humans free will
In all honesty, after what humans have done, even though im Christian and i still believe in God (i don't mind this stamp by the way i actually like it a bit) if you think about it why would god OR EVEN SATAN care?
bet they effed off years ago........

Why specifically Yahweh, the Abrahamic god? I mean sure he can be a real twat, especially with the whole flooding the planet killing millions of the people he designed, describing them as evil (despite acting no more mature or intelligent than the humans themselves), then haphazardly says he'll never do it again for the exact same reason he did it in the first place, but plenty of gods, spirits and superbeings from other mythologies and pantheons are just as crazy and malicious as the sky tyrant of late bronze age Israel.
Take the Aztec gods for instance, demanding regular human sacrifices to appease the gods so they dont decide to break the sky so the sun wont rise.

Nekromanda In reply to liberator7 [2012-07-26 01:11:42 +0000 UTC]
Well, specifically him because he seems to be more of an influence on people today than Aztec gods are. It's more of a challenge to those who do not question things such as religion or politics. Mostly just for fun though
