Description Before you get your panties in a bunch:

Fox News's slogan is "Fair & Balanced," but anyone conscious could tell you that they clearly are neither. Anyone could tell you that they are very obviously extremely biased towards conservative views in America (both political and religious).

And well, if you didn't know that, here's some super fun evidence that confirms the news group's position as operating as a wing of the Republican party:

In Spring 2011, Roger Ailes (the current chairman of Fox News) sent a Fox News analyst to Afghanistan to advise General Petraeus on his future career - saying that he should turn down an expected offer from Pres. Obama to become the director of the CIA and to accept nothing less than the chairmanship of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the top military post. And, if Obama did not offer the Joint Chiefs post, Ailes told Petraeus that he should resign from the military and run for president.

The analyst (Kathleen T McFarland) said that Roger Ailes would be willing to resign as head of Fox to run Petraeus' political campaign -- and that Rupert Murdoch, the head of News Corp., which owns Fox News, would "bankroll" the campaign.

The entire conversation was caught on a digital recording which was then given to The Washington Post .

The tapes open up with McFarland asking Petraeus is that Robert Ailes loves him, and if, "there anything Fox is doing right or wrong that you want to tell us to do differently?"

It only gets better from there. Here you go!

This is proof of their bias

They have a person who hasn't even played the game on the show.

Fox News obviously purports conservative positions, but also has liberals and libertarians (like Greg Gutfeld) on their programs. They're not perfect, but I think they're the best we had. If CNN wasn't too cowardly to report on the bad things Obama does instead of cover it up, then I would trust them more. Fox should report the bad things conservatives do as well. A balance of both taken with a grain of salt and with the facts is the best way, if you ask me.

When I went to their web page and saw their motto was 'Fair and Balanced' I fell out of my chair laughing.

That's the biggest load of bullshit I've ever heard in my life.

I've decided that from now on the only news outlet I'm going to watch are Colbert Report and The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

Haha, that would probably be a pretty safe bet. I love Colbert and Stewart, they are great at pointing out ridiculousness

I very much dislike Faux News. I think in general the Republican party leans too far left (yes, I just said that). Having said that, though, Fox, like MSNBC, CNN, etc etc are all the same, all in the pocket of politicians. Just as evidence, when Ron Paul and Mitt Romney were in Maine, evidence now suggests that Ron Paul beat Mitt Romney, but not only did the Republicans literally cheat up there, Fox News wouldn't cover anything else after 30% of the votes were counted and Romney led Paul by 1%. They just declared a Romney win.

I just consider it insulting when Fox News is considered a conservative station. Ha. Just goes to show you that you can't trust any news people to do your thinking for you.

SpeakThroughFingers [2012-12-06 22:38:15 +0000 UTC]

Really? That's their slogan?

With their republican bias, I can't take them seriously. Personally, half the "problems" they discuss are ridiculous, and it's fucking hilarious. Whenever I hear someone genuinely watches/reads/listens to fox news, I can barely contain my laughter.

This summer I was visiting my aunt, who is extremely conservative, and she was talking about how much she likes Fox news because it covers everything fairly and isn't biased towards the left like every other station, and how the country was too liberal, and the people on fox news are the only ones who seem to know it. I had to excuse myself to the bathroom to have a laughing fit.

And then my cousin said, "It's called right-wing for a reason! We're right!" and I just thought to myself, "As if... Besides, when all is said and done, it doesn't matter who's right, it matters who's left."

LS-Jebus [2012-12-06 19:01:01 +0000 UTC]

There's always people who defend Fox by saying "MSNBC is left-wing", as though one network having a bias means Fox gets to promote conservative ideas and Republican candidates, blame 'the left' for everything, create conspiracy theories, and lie freely without criticism.

There's a big difference between bias and propaganda...

FOX news reminds me more of Jerry Springer than Journalism. It's all about the show and making everybody believe their version of reality. If you want my opinion on them trying to buy out military people, I think it's just a matter of them wanting some mythological golden age when everybody was a Christian and everybody obeyed the Ten Commandments and never ever questioned the dogmas of the Christian religion. I say mythological because there never was such a golden age in this country.

Well gee, I guess I should just stop being so mean to Fox News and mind my own business.

Even if their owners try to bribe my government's officials. Even if their reporting tends to focus on scandal and conspiracies. Even if their most popular hosts don't understand how tides work, or the difference between a religion and a philosophy, or hell, even know what the hell a fascist is. Even if they are clearly biased towards the Republican party and claim to be 'fair' and 'balanced.'

Shame on me for thinking.

Yes, I am aware that I do not run the whole world, but that in no way means I should not criticize what I believe is worth criticizing. After all, freedom of speech also applies to the people you disagree with.

What's that got to do with anything? If you're going to accuse me of something, it should probably be something I had at least a little involvement in. Don't you think?

WhiteDraco71 In reply to AgentJayHawk [2012-12-06 23:43:44 +0000 UTC]

"What's that got to do with anything?"

I'll answer with a direct quote from you...

"Let him take responsibility for his own actions and mind your own business."

Wow, the conservatives back then sure as hell didn't mind their own business, but now, all of a sudden, you expect the OP to mind her own business because she's gone after a conservative group? Hypocritical much?

"If you're going to accuse me of something, it should probably be something I had at least a little involvement in."

Last I checked, I never accused you of anything... In fact, I wasn't accusing anyone of anything: I was stating documented facts which are all too easy to acquire online about Bill Clinton's presidency. You really should read people's actual words instead of trying to put new words into their mouths that they never said. Project your inadequacies onto others much?

ಠ___ಠ all of my aunts watch Fox religiously...when they try to talk about it to my father at dinner they remind me of a bunch of squabbling chickens.
