I'll be honest, this is pretty much just a response stamp to a similarly titled stamp that says "Fuck Obamacare." This one:There are a few faults with it, including the fact that several people who wanted it voted through in the first place hadn't even read it before they started selling it, but there are a few bonuses that I think are at least a step in the right direction. Plus, I know someone whose daughter was born with a preexisting heart condition - if it weren't for Obamacare's requirement for insurance companies to offer coverage to children with preexisting conditions, well... I don't want to think of what position that family might be in.

IMO, the most ridiculous part was putting an additional 10% tax on tanning salons.

Why? They are hazardous to the health and we tax the crap out of cigarettes which are also hazardous to health. Not to mention people have even though about putting taxes on things like soda. Which doesn't seem too far fetched. As much as I like soda it is very bad for you. Though not as hazardous as tanning or cigarettes. :/ That tax seems reasonable if the tax money is used to be put back into the health care system. Since some of those tanners will need to be taken care of.

The problem with putting an additional tax on soda is that it doesn't make healthier alternatives cheaper. A lot of problems with health and obesity are based off poverty, and the fact that unhealthier foods are cheaper and more available.
I have no problem with putting taxes on things like cigarettes and tanning beds, which are elective and not essential for survival. Food and drink, however, are not.

You know? You are right. We should really lower the cost of FRESH healthy food. (and healthier food in general) Though, I'm tired of getting my stuff from a can just because it is cheaper. In fact canning it by today's methods makes it unhealthy for a lot of people. :/

I buy frozen because it doesn't have a metallic after taste and isn't odd textured, and it's cheaper than canned here.

I'm just curious. Have you took a look at the ingredients in canned products? They are horrible. Especially for fruit. Ugh canned fruit makes me sick. My dad told me when they canned things they didn't put near as many preservatives in it unless it was meat. What was used then was salt and not all this extra junk. I swear it is horrible. Of course I could be wrong. However canned will never beat fresh.
