Well this popped at me when I saw the thumbnail (which is positive in itself), and the full size version made me care enough to ask a question.
Exactly what is happening here? I'm seeing our young shaman summoning her wolf spirit based on the blue fire in her bowl and hands, and the trail linking the bowl to the forming wolf, but I don't understand why the firebird (phoenix?) is manifesting as well.

I think I might disappoint you with the answer a bit, xD the reason for that is I liked the fire/water (hot/cold colors) feel and I wanted the spirits/elements to go together instead of against each other.
I sort of meant it as s summoning of multiple animal spirits or different elements together. If that makes sense

My query was besed more on my lay knowledge of anthopology being good enough to know that it would be unusual if not impossible for a member of a spiritualistic tribe like this to have 2 avatars. Since (reasoning qv) she is clearly summoning the wolf spirit, then if there was a story reason rather than a purely design-based reason for the firebird, I wondered what it was.

i love that, the color composition and the the way they play off each other, then that its a freaking wolf and... i'm going to say eagle... its just beautiful! I also love that you can see the source of where they are summoned, water bowl for wolf, and fire for eagle. then the rising stars to signify reaching higher consciousness..... just all and all a wonderful picture!
