Description Finally Part 4 of Circular Gallifreyan. For those who don't know, this is one of the written language in the Doctor Who universe. This is my intepretation of how words translate in this language. Sorry it took a while, but here it is!

To let you know, I've read all of your suggestions in the comments. They will be coming up next. They doesn't mean you shouldn't stop suggesting. Keep them coming!

My two favorite DW quotes are "I am and always will be the optimist. The hoper of far-flung hopes and the dreamer of improbable dreams" andΒ "We’re all stories, in the end… just make it a good one, eh?"

Could you possibly do optimist, hoper, and dreamer? Β And something vaguely sentence-like for the second quote? Β Thank you so much!!

ok, here's my friend travis with your "travel" glyph indelibly placed on his shoulder cap. (it's tough as hell to photograph, but is surprisingly round in reality.)

thanks again for being open with your designs!

your work is so fantastic that my friend travis is having it tattooed on himself this saturday. (i saw that you approved this in your comments, so we'll be sure to send you a photo in thanks.) my question - he wants your "travel" symbol fairly large, probably about 5" across. do you have a higher res image you could share? my email is crank@got.net if that works for you. thanks in advance!

Nellufy In reply to lishd [2013-06-08 00:27:10 +0000 UTC]

Well, the original file I unfortunately lost due to when i had to replace harddrives.

I had been getting similar requests like this as in they want individual symbols be in larger sizes. It's about time I had done something about it.

Beautiful work. I wonder if it would be possible to turn them into jewelry...
Anyway, here are a few suggestions:
Companion or Friend
Home or Safe or Safety
Joy or Fun or Happiness
Curiosity
Sadness or Grief
Regeneration
Fury
Protector or Guardian
Doctor
Paradox

The BBC put out an informational on how to write Gallifreyan which is very interesting. These are very cool though and well designed. If I had to learn a new language, I'd want to learn Gallifreyan. Completely useless for the real world but it speaks to my artistic side with it's complex design.

Nellufy In reply to CosmicJackalope [2013-01-03 07:29:47 +0000 UTC]

Really now? I would like to see it. The references I have been using is from the old Doctor Who and some of the new Circular Gallifreyan. The new one that appeared recently, the ones in the interior was quite a surprise. I don't know why, but it kinda reminds me of mine a little bit. ^_^;;

Someone came up with this version and it seems to work well to create the right look and be reasonably easy to read.
This has the guide they made: [link]
And this is someones explanation that might help: [link]
hope that helps anyone interested. It looks really cool and Gallifreyan with a little practice!

Mixing Worlds, but that's what the Doctor does. He travels...And who's to say he doesn't sit down with Morpheus for a cuppa and a chat about things from time to time.

Absolutely And somehow I only just learned that Neil Gaiman wrote one of the Dr. Who episodes - The Doctor's Wife. Must. See. It. And I'll continue to hold out hope that Drawling Nell will do designs for Delirium, Death, Destiny, Destruction, and Desire. I have a tattoo dream half planned should she come up with them

Missminxtress In reply to aineoin [2012-07-17 21:29:55 +0000 UTC]

I got so incredibly excited when I Heard that Master Gaiman was doing an episode I almost lost it! You really must watch it as it was truly truly brilliant.
I think your suggestions are great and hope too that they will come into being from the talent of DrawlingNell.
I too have a tattoo design in process that I want to incorporate some gallifreyan into and now I just might use one of your suggestions.
I will post it when it evententually happens. It's a long work in progress.

So, does each symbol within the symbol translate into one particular letter? Or is it just a symbol for each word? And is it based off of something, or just kind of.. a feel for what it might be like?

Either way, they are very beautiful!

These are beautiful... Any chance that you could draw one for 'brevity', or something similar? I was thinking about getting a 'Carpe Diem' tattoo, but I don't really want the actual words... I started thinking about the brevity of life in comparison to death, and I think circular Gallifreyan would be such a perfect way to express that notion!

I was wondering if you've ever thought about trying to do names? I noticed that anytime you see the Doctor's name in Gallifreyan, instead of it being one circle with many characters on the inside of it, like these, it's many circles. I think it would be awesome if the creator's had brought in a linguist to actually think out the entire language, and then people could see their own names in Gallifreyan.

Do you think you could do one for "Science," "Logic," "Serendipity," or "Truth"? Me and my friends are all getting Gallifreyan circles and, though I really like all your current designs, I'd prefer to get one of the ones listed and one designed by you specifically.

Thanks a ton!
