Description I am a big fan of Doctor Who and had always been fascinated by the circular Gallifreyan. Also, I am going to try make my own written old Gallifreyan writing. It's funny that the language in the Doctor Who series changes every time! However, that's the fun of it though. It allows us fans to interpret the language in our own special way.

Anyways, this is my version of certain words in Circular Gallifreyan.

If you guys like it, post in the comments on which words I can try making Circular Gallifreyan. Don't put any dirty or derogatory words please. :S

Just give me a challenege guys!

its funny, Gallifrayen doesnt translate into any human language, so what you make ISNT gallifrayen but creative nonsense.

I am aware that Gallifreyan doesn't translate into any human language. That doesn't stop me from exploring Circular Gallifreyan and see what symbols I can create that could roughly translate into English and creative nonsense or not, I do it for the hell of it.

WOW! I LOVE these!
I have a Doctor Who shape pack (for Photoshop) with tons of Gallifreyan in it... is there any way you would let me include these in the shape pack?

And if I should tweak them or anything...? You wouldn't mind? You'd of course be credited in the description.

Just curious, because my boyfriend is very canonically driven--how canon-accurate are these to the New Who Gallifreyan glyphs?

And a second question: how amenable are you to people using these as tattoos?

Nellufy In reply to Eveningsdawn [2011-06-09 02:28:30 +0000 UTC]

Well I made these three Circular Gallifreyan prior to the new Who Gallifreyan so there isn't any relation at all. From what how I interpret the new Who Gallifreyan is that they are combination of letters and/or sounds that made up the Doctor's actual name on the wodeen crib. The gallifreyan I try to make are actual words, not sounds or letters.

Could you do some episode titles? Like, A Good Man Goes to War? That would make a cool tattoo.

Okay I have a question! Or a few! HOW ARE YOU SO AWESOME?? I've been looking for circular Gallifreyan for a long time. Where did you get the ideas for these? Are you secretly a Time-Lord? Could I use some of these for a tattoo?

This is BEAUTIFUL! Space and Sonic are my favourites. It feels like you've put a lot of thought into visually translating what the words mean. This is incredible.

I'd love you to make one that says 'rift' for Torchwood. I have an tattoo that has 'guardian of the rift' with an gallifreyan symbol for 3 under it, to state that its Torchwood 3 that guard the rift in Cardiff. I'd love to know how you even do it so I can play and make my own. They are super cool by the way.

Definately lovely and intriguing at the same time. Sort of strikes me as being in the middle ground of mathematics and artistic.

Thanks! I am not much of a math person...even though I took precalculus, statistics, algebra I and II, Trignometry, and Geometry back in highschool.... but I try to integrate both math and art. .

I hope to make more soon.

ringtossed In reply to Nellufy [2010-06-01 00:34:57 +0000 UTC]

You're very welcome. ^_^

I definately believe you've achieved that math and art in this piece. I don't normally get drawn to mathematics in any form (just because I'm more of an artist than science to mathmatical person), but, to be honest, the more I look at these that you've done, especially alongside the 'nowadays' Gallifreyan from the series, it's difficult to not see the beauty of those two different worlds beautifully blended together. You really have done a lovely job with these and can hardly wait to see more. ^_^

Nellufy In reply to ringtossed [2010-06-01 09:24:38 +0000 UTC]

Oh I will get definitely make more. It's really fun, but actually a bit difficult. It's not really a bunch of circles :S

I will definitely make more still!

ringtossed In reply to Nellufy [2010-06-01 11:18:35 +0000 UTC]

EEEE! Wonderful!

~*chuckles*~ Oh yeah, I can definately believe that it's more than drawing a bunch of circles.

It still amazes me though. To look at something like this and see it not purely as 'art' but to actually 'sense' or 'feel' the mathematics of it with the art. O_o Who would've ever thought I'd say something like that!
