Description
Two divine wolves, two epic gamesPainted May 2010. [SAI, Painter 11, Photoshop CS4] (yup, it's 100% digital!) You can see a close-up here: [link]
(Extra nerdery: I like the Wind Waker Hylian script better than the Twilight Princess ones, so a bit of anachronism/artistic license there
(Extra extra nerdery: Ammy has on the Trinity Mirror, which "represents the unification of Knowledge, Power, and Faith." Hm

Woah.
That must have been pretty hard. Two completely different styles in one picture.
That reminds me, I still have to finish Twilight Princess... TT_TT

I like exploring different styles, so it was pretty fun, not hard And it's not like I had to blend them into each other, I would have no idea how to do that.
Twilight Princess was um... not the best Zelda game in my opinion. But it's still worth finishing!

I will say I don't like it when people compair but the contrast between the two styles is done expertly and it is still able to blen seemlesly.

I really love how you separated the two while at the same time blending them into a cohesive picture. And I really admire your ability to mimic the two different styles while adding your own at the same time. That takes real skill. And the sun! I love how it's split in half! But I think on the Okami side you should have added the traditional rays, just to make it more... Okami-ish?
Either way, wonderful pic! ^_^

Ah - sun rays, I didn't think of that. I was just trying to make it look as much like a sunrise (and not a sunset, because that's the other side) as I can while sticking to the ink painting style. Good feedback, thanks!

Catching up on a backlog of dA posts...
You've done a very good job at capturing the two different art styles, and making them both work together in the same picture. There's only a couple of bits where it doesn't quite line up: the sun appears to be in a slightly different position in the two halves (though that may just be my monitor), and there's a bit of cliff that looks like it's duplicated: the section just left of the bottom kanji looks like it's the same bit as the section just up and right of Link's front-left paw.
Knowledge, Power and Faith... it's not quite Wisdom, Power and Courage, but it's close. I always found the mirrors to be the most effective for combat in Okami, especially when you equip another as a secondary item.

Darn, I see what you mean about the cliff. Guess my head is still too full of cliche shapes
The mirrors are the best weapons period unless you're one of those people who like huge and slow weapons which I am not!

nice pic!!! I love wolf link. I'm thinking about getting Okami, can you tell me what the game is like because i've heard its a lot like Twilight Princess, is that true?

Nendil In reply to Lythronax [2010-07-03 01:44:44 +0000 UTC]
Okami's game design is similar to your basic Zelda game, though I don't think I would say it's more like Twilight Princess over any other Zelda. It's more artistic and Japanese-y, and its dungeons aren't as difficult. Everybody should play Okami though, so get it no matter what!

This is amazing. :0
You had me fooled there, I thought for a moment that it was actually done with traditional media, specially the Ôkami part.
I also love how you let some pieces overlap the other half, whereas the same pieces on the other half, also overlap... (if that doesn't make sense... I'm refering to the tails and rocks). It gives some sort of Yin Yang feel. :3

I like the brush technique you use for Twilight Princess. It really fleshed out Link. And the Okami side looks just like it came from straight from the game! I also like how you had both wolves slightly overlap the other side. Great job!
