Wish I could say that this was an image that was first conceptualised in my mind.. But it was made on a freestyle fotoshoot, so I didn't know that morning what kind of results the day would bring.
Anyway: I was with the model in quite a shady and abandoned part of town. At a certain point we walked by a decommissioned bus stop. When I saw the smashed window I immediately knew what I wanted.. Special challenge was to find something that the model could stand on so her face would be in the right position. It had to be stable so she wouldn't accidentally cut her hand at the glassplinters on the foil. Another challenge was Communication that was interrupted bij the glass.. I had to run back and forth a few times to fine tune the models pose and required expression
I decided that F/8 would bring the right D.O.F. to have al important elements neat and sharp in to the frame. Even though there was plenty of light, it also was a very windy day; I set the ISO to 800 so I could use the fastest shutterspeed (1/4000 sec.) that eliminated movement and made sure that every strand of the models hair would 'frozen'. Once all was set I used the timer so I could counter the hard light with my reflector. A neat side effect was the all the cracks are quite clearly lit and visible
From a technical point of view I'm not completely satisfied: my perfectionism keeps pointing me to the minor fact that the reflector is reflected in the right corner.. But since it was a freestyle shoot and the fact that it does not have much negative effect on the overall 'impact' of the image, I decided to publish it anyway.. ^^
Thanks for asking
