The use of blur was done very well here. It adds so much movement to the piece but I don't think using it on the hand was a good idea. The eye is drawn there because of its size and "proximity" to the viewer so it really deserves to be seen in clear detail along with the face. I have no idea what he's crushing but I know I don't want it to be me. The background makes a great contrast and adds to the scariness of the giant since it looks so stormy and bleak.
