Yeah, R2 was already an active Astro droid for a Naboo Cruiser while 3PO was still under construction. Now they're both the oldest characters in the cast, living alongside the third gen cast. (Which is ironic, since appliances tend to have a shorter lifespan than humans. But then again, this isn't a corporate dominated society where shorter lifespans are enforced for profit but rather a war-torn galaxy where duriable technology is far more widespread and utilized.)
