Sorry, I guess the way I see it, the internet is for adults. Unless Deviant Art claims to be a site for 13 and up, I don't believe it's their responsibility to make sure nothing inappropriate makes the front page. Rather, its up to the parents to be aware that their child is using a site where they can be exposed to mature content.
And "real art" is subjective. The guy puts his time and work into his art, just as anyone else on the site.

Deviant Art actually is for children as young as 13 and up, they say so, accounts with those under the age of 13 are shut, but 13 and up are allowed, they cannot view mature art however, thus why there is an option to put a mature rating on your art, with an 18+ sort of rating, which this obviously should have since it is inappropriate.

I'm sorry if I caused any offence, I guess I just get a bit sick of the large majority of art being pushed at users by the homepage with featured art is over sexual, non inspiring, basic porn for people to get turned on by, as wonderful as that may be to you, I guess I find it a little irritating, especially with the possibility of kids seeing it.

eh, I'm not angry or offended bro, your opinion still matters. Nor do I routinely view the nsfw versions of the art. I just absolutely believe that if people don't want their kids seeing this kind of art, they shouldn't be letting them on the site. The age limit set by a website should not be the only thing a parent looks at when deciding whether or not to let their child participate. Deviant Art warns everybody at sign up that the users decide what to label as mature content. It's a parent's lack of involvement in a child's life and in teaching them how to relate to what they encounter in the world that messes a child up, not the fact that they may have viewed some nsfw content on a site that makes it clear they allow it.

I really get it, it's just easy to overlook how judging the artist in their own comment section, over something they have no control over, might be offensive to them. They just post their art, computer code decides what order things hit the front page. Rather, maybe write the Deviant Art staff and tell them your concerns, offer solutions like the development of good parental controls or something, you know?

Personally I completely agree, I’ve seen art on here a lot more hard core than this with no filter, i wouldn’t let a kid near this site, but parents are often not interested or just plain stupid.

You’re probably right there, I guess I was just ranting a little ya know. I don’t normally like to make negative comments. Caught me on a shitty day. I guess I just wish artists like this would use the mature filter DA gives you the option of.
