in drawing people, 2 things are very very important: anatomy and emotions. so many people can do anatomy well but a few can show real emotions on the faces. I am trying to improve this second one by drawing some different feelings and moods. and sometimes it's really fun to do.

You're very right! Many artists are very capable at technical things like anatomy but are sourly missing in that second aspect. I'm glad you're systematically trying to improve that, fantastic goal

in fact, emotions are not always necessary in pinups but they are very important in sequential art and comics.

yes. if you notice the emotions and the mood in every panel, you will feel the story well. and the artist made so much research for references of that period of time, and that's what makes the comic successful. ^_^
