Someone needs to make a plz account of Varrick's villain smile. I'd do it myself, if I had any idea how.

1) Find an animator

2) Get a gun

3) Threaten the animator with the gun

4) Wait for the animator to finish the animation, and then kill him anyway.

5) Don't do any of the things I just said, they're morally wrong.

Oop Varrick you busted!Β

Your drawing style is SO ADORABLE I THINK I'M GOING TO DIE FROM IT! Needless to say, I'm officially in love with your work.

Why thank you. Please don't die though. I need my fanbase to increase, not the reverse.

Well what if I expanded your fanbase to the spirit world once I'm gone? They'll ask me how I died and I'll say "from some really awesome art that you should check out"

What if you're the avatar and you just get reincarnated. Then you'll have no memory of me or my art.

OMIGLOB I DIDN'T THINK OF THAT!!! Very well! I shall not die for your lovely arts sake! (ironically enough I'm working on cosplaying as Korra and have been told I look like her)

at least is not as obvious as Unalaq, I guess.

glowworm56 In reply to Panzerkan [2013-10-20 03:44:20 +0000 UTC]

Unalaq was WAY too obvious--I kept looking at him suspiciously thinking "He's evil, isn't he?" so when the "reveal" came--I was not surprised--although the bit about how he sided with the bandits in order to banish Korra's father did surprise me.

glowworm56 In reply to ??? [2013-10-20 02:56:47 +0000 UTC]

Β Ping Ping, the stuffed platypus bear is the real culprit--when my boyfriend countered to the fact that Zhu Li and Varrick were inside his mouth--I responded "Maybe he's a well trained bear." All silliness aside--it has got to be Varrick--never trust a smiling business man.

Neodusk In reply to glowworm56 [2013-10-20 03:02:43 +0000 UTC]

Didn't they learn their lesson with Mr. Sato in the first season?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

glowworm56 In reply to Neodusk [2013-10-20 03:41:11 +0000 UTC]

Varrick however had a likable eccentric air to him--the kind that made me begin to doubt my original belief that he was a bad guy. Also, the smiling business man is much like the old "the butler did it." Both are such tired cliches, they're hardly expected any more--which surprisingly makes them unexpected after all.Β

Neodusk In reply to glowworm56 [2013-10-20 04:11:12 +0000 UTC]

I really did like Varrick. I think humor is one of the few features of this new season that I've been enjoying, and Varrick has definitely been helping that along. I can only hope now that he's as effective in his new, villainous role.

ninjaman42 In reply to ??? [2013-10-19 12:01:13 +0000 UTC]

What if Varrick really didn't do it? Β Yes, I think Varrick would be a diabolically nefarious villain, along the lines of Handsome Jack from Borderlands, but if the better villain is one you'd never expect, there's one person we're not thinking of. Β What if it's Ju-Lee?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Neodusk In reply to ninjaman42 [2013-10-19 19:47:54 +0000 UTC]

If Zhu Li is the real villain, that may be going a step too far.

ninjaman42 In reply to Neodusk [2013-10-20 00:20:07 +0000 UTC]

We'll see how it goes. Β My girlfriend is joking that the stuffed platypus bear is the real villain. Β We won't know until it actually happens.

Chucktanium [2013-10-19 06:51:02 +0000 UTC]

I had a strong suspicion that Varrick was up to something (his wacky attitude always happens to work towards causing a civil war), but the whole revelation at the end of the sting was perfect. That grin. He's doing more than war profiteering, Varrick is straight-up nefarious.

But I still hold on to the belief that he'll get halfway to fulfilling his master plan before he forgets about it and starts making snow-angels.Β

Neodusk In reply to Chucktanium [2013-10-19 07:44:56 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it was pretty well done. Frankly. I thought it was too smart (or maybe just devious) a plot twist for the show to use. BUT I WAS WRONG.

In all fairness, Mako should probably let her know if she's giving a crazy, extremist businessman control of her family's company. We know how well that turned out before.

Just saying, when you're staring down the guy who has ties to the local crime organizations and you admit you know you have evidence that will put him away inches away from his face, you'd better make it look like you don't know you know or you're gonna get a hit out on you.
