Yeah, all in all Pearl is my favourite Gem, she has so many flaws, she is overprotective, obsessed with cleanness, perfection and stuff, but at the same time she is the most motherly. I really love her for her flaws and she has best reaction faces.

Yeah, then came the episode where she learnt something she didn't know about her adored Rose Quartz and she flipped a bit because she thought she knew everything and Rose kept no secrets from her. A really great episode.

And as a result the weakest class gets a severe case of Survival of the Fittest and actually grow more powerful than the talented little shits?
It's more or less like the concept From Assassination Classroom but much more lighthearted. Best get the best classroom and worst get the worst. And if they want to change things they challenge each other to Summoning Duels and stuff, they summon adorable chibi-versions of themselves and have them fight. The chibi's power depends on the student's test results in the subject they are fighting. Plenty of wacky comedy, some interesting strategies and tactics. Generally a fun and easy-on-the-brain series.
Yeah there is even a theory based on some slight evidence that Pearl is actually a second-rate citizen or outright artificial servant of her race and that's why she was so happy that Rose held her in such high esteem.
First season (some 45+ eps) is complete with a second one starting now.

they become more powerful as assassins rather quick (killing intent is so useful XD) and Tentacle-sensei gets their grades way up, in the final tests they dominate the upper rankings, while the elite class burned themselves out with dean-incuded hate
