Also, have you ever noticed that cats are emotional sponges?
It's like somehow their selfishness absorbs bad moods.
You could be sobbing on your bed/couch/etc and the cat jumps on your lap. It completely ignores the fact that you are in emotional duress.
"Shut up and pet me. No one cares."
And so you pet them.........and lo and behold you feel better.
