Description
"I said to motherfucking kneel!" Gamzee screamed at Equius, causing Nepeta's heart to race as she watched the scene unfold from her hiding place in the air duct. There was a sharp twang and the small sound of an arrow whizzing through the air, and Equius roared in pain. An arrow had lodged itself deep into his meaty lower thigh, right above the knee. Equius fell to his knees, then looked up quickly as Gamzee approached, laughing maniacally.

     In one swift movement, Gamzee snapped the bow in half, pulling the bowstring taught. He yanked it forward, wrapping it around Equius's neck and pulling as hard as he could. Equius struggled against the string, trying to pry it off of his neck, while at the same time fighting to breathe. The thin string cut into his neck, and small beads of dark blue blood trickled down this throat. Nepeta gasped, "No."

     Equius fell backwards, feebly struggling with the string. Then he lay still. His broken sunglasses slipped off, revealing blank, vacant eyes.

     "No!" Nepeta screamed. Her eyes stinging with tears, Nepeta sprang from the vent, an enraged yowl piercing the sudden silence. She extended her wickedly sharp claws and pounced at the enemy she had once called a friend, planning on ripping mercilessly into his unprotected back. She saw him turn to face her, and Nepeta quickly changed her plan; she was going to rip his fucking eyes out.

     Nepeta landed on both feet in front of Gamzee and flashed out her hand, claws aiming directly for his face. Faster than she could blink, Gamzee caught her by the wrist and stopped her mid-swipe. Nepeta's eyes opened wide in surprise as he seized her arm, holding her wrist tightly. She tried to free herself, but Gamzee's grip was firm. Slowly, he brought the razors up to his face and sliced three deep cuts diagonally across it. Dark purple blood ran down his nose and into his mouth, opened wide in an insane, gleeful smile. Then, in another impossibly fast movement, Gamzee snapped her wrist back. There was a loud crack and Nepeta screeched in pain, stumbling and falling over backwards. Gamzee began to laugh, an insane, unpitying sound that echoed throughout the room. Heart pounding, Nepeta looked up into the eyes of the advancing highblood.

     "Please, no. Gamzee please, please no," Nepeta begged, desperate and terrified. She struggled to at least sit up, but Gamzee kicked her hard in the mouth. Nepeta's helmet flew off and she instantly tasted blood; only seconds later the olive green liquid was drizzling down her chin. Gamzee laughed again, louder this time, and kicked her in the side. Once, twice, three times. Nepeta lay on the ground, dazed with the pain, and sobbed out softly, "Please, Gamzee. I thought I was your friend."

     Gamzee froze. "Friend?" he croaked out softly. "Friend? You thought I actually motherfucking cared for you, lowblood? Well motherfucking think again."

     Nepeta's eyes opened wide as Gamzee brought out a large juggling pin, and she tried to shield herself, raising her good arm over her face. Using all the force he could muster, Gamzee swung at her head; there was an earsplitting crack and Nepeta saw dark spots flash before her eyes. She lay there, struggling to stay conscious, when another blow came. Dark green blood pooled around her head. Her hand reached out blindly, and Nepeta suddenly found Equius's cold hand. She gripped it with all her remaining strength, and as green tears mixed with green blood, she whispered, "I'm s-so sorry, Equius. I- I love you."

     Gamzee's maniacal laughter filled the room as he raised his club to deliver the final deadly blow. Nepeta gripped Equius's hand with every last ounce of her strength and closed her eyes.
