I don't mind, "-insert character name here- is SO hot!" Okay. Anime characters can be hot. But don't say you're "in love" with a fictional character. Don't draw/write yourself doing certain "things" with a fictional character. It's just...unhealthy. And pretty pathetic, offense intended.
And yes, I know some guy in Japan actually did marry a videogame character. That's Japan. They're weird there [/just kidding].

Having a crush on a character is one thing, I mean most of us have gone through that phase at one point in time. But saying that they love you/they're your husbando/waifu etc, there's something very wrong here.
However, having a canonxOC pairing doesn't mean it's the creator's self-insert, it could be because 1) the canon pairing sucks 2)canon character doesn't have a lover but shows interest in wanting one, amongst other reasons. Not to mention you get to exercise your character creation, development and writing skills. A lot of people start out with OCs when they're looking to go big in the art field. It's a starting step for them.
Otherwise I agree with this stamp. I've seen pretty unhealthy obsessions with some characters...eugh.

I don't see nothing wrong about loving fictional characters and marrying them in your own stories since that's not harming anyone, BUT I do agree if someone starts drama just because someone else does the same thing with that said character then that's very bad and immature. You can't own a fictional character (unless you created them yourself), and it's unhealthy to be so obsessed that you start drama with another over it.
Simply, it's fine to marry them or do whatever you want in your own fictional world (it's not pathetic), but don't start drama with others about it (that is pathetic and immature).

But here's the beneficial (oh no, here I go again...) part of forming a parasocial relationship with a fictional character (as long as it doesn't get out of hand...*cough girl-in-art-class-turns-down-guys-who-ask-her-out-cause-she's-holding-out-for-Justin-Bieber cough cough* You discover what you like and don't like in people...without actually having to date people. Find the centralized traits in the characters you adore, and you'll pinpoint what you value in people. But I digress.
