They Don't steal each others names.... they made them originally in different concepts. Even though a Cameron movie and a Cartoony one.
dont pout about it. everybody wins, you must see both movies like Avatar, and the upcoming The Last Airbender.

I wasn't too happy with Cameron about the name he chose for his movie. Avatar is more relevant in the cartoon than in that movie. A friend of mine said that Cameron had another idea for the title, which he thinks would have been more appropriate than "avatar". Said friend saw the cartoon a few months after seeing the movie. Sooo behind the times with him

Im a hindu, so I can tell you something. Avatar (Ow-taar) in my language/religion is like a god. They are blue, and they too look like cats or like the Na'vi. And plus, the indians/Natives were "supposedly looking for India" where comes the hindu religion. So what I think James Cameron was refering to was the Gods and Aliens in our religion. Hey, I could be wrong, but that's such a large similarity. There's more I could explain but I doubt you'd even care. Aha!

I think he was leaning towards more of the online gaming reference "Avatar" was used to categorized your MMO character. I think that's what Cameron was leaning towards. It did explain in the movie that Avatar was the name of the genetic human/Na'vi robot thing...

Lol I knew about the Last Airbender movie before I heard of "Avatar" so when the blue people came out, I thought the"Avatar" movie was some freaky thing. So whenever I talked to my sister about "Avatar" show would say "Do you mean the cartoon or the freaky Avatar?"

First saw the Airbender trailer. Then I see the trailer on TV. "Wait a min, wheres the dude with the arrow on his head? Why are there kick ass looking mechs?" Funny to say, I actually enjoyed the James Cameron one.
