3+4"Neverwas" (yes, the two words are put together on purpose) is an alternate timeline to 's Crack series.
What is this?
The idea came years ago after reading the fifth arc of the Crack - I only just drew it on paper now. In Crack 5, Vlad realized how much he felt he screwed Danny's life and decides to fix it once and for all. To do so, he traveled through time and input Clockwork's time medallions on their two daughters Madison and Jackie, their two currently pre-natal twin sons, Daniel and Vladimir, and one on Danny himself.
He would then travel to the 1980's and kill Jack from afar so that his past self would marry Maddie and adopt the five kids (six with Danielle, though she's dissolved by the time of this fancomic). The end results would be Vlad and Maddie married, living in the same castle he has in canon time (inherited from the Dairy King who's Vlad's uncle in her Crackverse), with five kids.
In Crack, this never happens because Danny prevented it. My little fancomic to this fanfic is the results if it did. Or at least a "What If".
What to keep in mind
Two things you need to know: you have to understand Tav's Crack series. If you don't or have never read it, you aren't going to get this.
The other is the name "Steven," That is Danny himself. Tav chose the name "Steven" (not just because she likes it) because his son is named Daniel. Because Danny is more recognizable then his offspring, he's the one with the name change. I mean, we can't have two kids with the name "Danny".

Actually, the Crack IS finished. She just never posted them all up due to losing interest in DP. You can read the entire Crack series if you ask the original author for it.

Your coloring style for this threw me at first- I noticed the lack of skin tone immediately and then that everything seems grayed. Accident or brilliance? You tell me, because I think it nicely emphasizes that this dream life is bland and something essential is lacking. Maddie looks meek and tired from the first panel, Vlad weary himself. And the kids, well... except for "Stephen" (I love his thoughtful expression!) all of them seem distracted and in some way oblivious, not quite happy. The not-sex scene was still as hilarious to me as the script and poor Vlad! His expression in the last panel, I just wanna hug him.

I was experimenting with colors when I worked on the coloring. I admit the lack of gray tone on the people's face was just a cheap way for me to be lazy, but I was also trying to make it kinda...weird, for lack of wording. Like it's not normal, I guess is the proper way to put it.

(I always kind of thought that if Maddie and Vlad did end up together it would end up dull and...something missing. Like a lot of relationships fall prey to after that determination to get what you think you want only to get it and then get all bored.)
There bored faces are good for the "intro" feeling of how things really are.

No. Canon Crack Vlad altered the timeline, then removed the time medallion himself. That Crack Vlad, the real canon Crack Vlad no longer exists.
The Vlad we see in this fancomic is the Vlad who never got into an accident. The one who marries Maddie after Jack "mysterious" gets killed, and later fathers the five adopted kids.

Maddie and Vlad are still very much interested in ghosts. They've always been since at least college. Their love for ghostly research still exists.

I figured that under the circumstances, she would. She loves the field and in this timeline, she and Vlad pursue it together. It's not a threat to their relationship (like it is in "Masters of All Time", where Vlad probably feared she might run into Jack Plasmius and discover the truth), so he doesn't see any reason to object to it.

Keep in mind that Vlad has a different developmental path here as well. He didn't become half-ghost and was in fact secretly nudged by the Vlad Plasmius still hanging around with a time medallion (at this point, that Vlad has already removed the medallion, resulting in the nullification of his existance) to ensure that he did not abandon the field. So he's closer to college!Vlad than canon!Vlad or crack!Vlad anyway and not himself prim and proper.
