Description
The book I have says queue bonding is highly erotic and intensely spiritual, and I wanted to capture an intimate moment where they were both vulnerable, but I didn't want it to be distasteful. Besides, I'm not entirely sure if they are physically the same as humans, so I'm not going to draw it.Na'vi, Pandora, Avatar belong to James Cameron.
I hope you guys like this.
Please don't steal them. Interrupting their first bonding would be mean as hell.
I'nen belongs to my friend.
Arae'em and the art belong to me.
EDIT: I DON'T GIVE A FLYING FUCK IF YOU DON'T LIKE THIS. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, DO NOT LOOK AT IT, DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT HIT FAVE. AND ESPECIALLY DON'T LECTURE ME ABOUT MY OWN DAMN PIECE OF ARTWORK.
Sorry about that. Have a nice day.
Nice comments, and HELPFUL Critique, are appreciated.
EDIT EDIT - DO NOT ASK ME ABOUT THEIR SEXES. JUST IMAGINE THEM HOWEVER YOU LIKE.
EDIT EDIT EDIT- FOR GODS SAKE I KNOW THAT JAMES SAID THEY SCREW SIMILAR TO HUMANS, BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN THEY HAVE GENITALIA EXACTLY LIKE A HUMAN'S. I HAVE THE GODDAMN BOOK. I READ IT. I PROMISE. THEY ARE NOT SCREWING. THEY ARE ENJOYING EACH OTHER'S COMPANY.
EDIT x 4.
THIS PARAGRAPH CAME DIRECTLY FROM THIS BOOK.

[[[[The Na'vi are monogamous creatures who mate for life. The mechanics of reproduction are similar to that of humans and other Terran mammals. However, their unique physiology provides the Na'vi with a level of intimacy unknown on Earth. Cultural anthropologists believe that when an appropriate mate has been selected (which can take many years), the male and female Na'vi will connect queues (called Tsahaylu) to create an emotional bond that lasts a lifetime. The intertwining of queues is both highly erotic and profoundly spiritual, but does not in itself lead to reproduction. ]]]
The rest of this came from the Pandora Wiki. I am unsure of it's reliability. Do not quote me one this.
Traditionally, once a Na'vi male has passed the tests on the path to manhood and has been accepted into the clan as an adult, he is not only allowed to make his bow from the wood of the Hometree, but he is also expected to choose his woman. After the woman has been chosen, the new couple are mated before Eywa.
Jake Sully chooses Neytiri to become his mate, and she accepts and mates with him under the Tree of Voices following his acceptance into the Omaticaya clan as 'One of the People'.
Once Tsahaylu is made between the couple, the ultimate in intimacy, pleasure that is unfathomable to humans, causes the somewhat unwillful sharing of the couple's good memories, and is a sign of Eywa's acceptance. If a couple can be foreseen to not have a pleasant or happy future, Eywa has been known to reverse the feeling produced by making Tsahaylu, a sign to the couple that mating would only, in simple words, ruin their lives together, and therefore prevents the mating, because of it's life-long span. After the resulting embracing and kissing, the couple is sent to sleep by Eywa, and the two dream hintings of their future together. The couple will experience the pleasure of Tsahaylu from the moment of connection, until they awaken and have completed mating, when they disconnect and return to the clan, mated for life.
SO. WHAT I GET FROM THIS INFORMATION.
Queue bonding is just that, bonding. I suppose it's like marriage but on a physical level. The mechanics of reproduction are like humans, the book says so. This means that the bonding ADDS to the both the physical and mental relationship, has more meaning than sex, but is not sex.

I'm pretty sure Na'vi have genitalia in the same place as people, otherwise, why do they wear loin clothes? I think the queue bond is just like a spiritual/mental connection in addition to "normal" sex.

actually, for starters i like that they are both girls. it makes it more of a soft tone of love and respect than if it were to be a male and a female because then people would ONLY see it as dirty. I see this as a beautiful bonding between two females, rather it be underlying sexual or not its very romantic and soft tones, the poses are very dynamic and sort of flow toether, adding to the connection of the two na'vi.
the dark color setting and the shading alost help bring this moment to life. the way their noses are touching makes for a cute little show off affection. as for how its drawn, i think your style suits the na'vi quite well and gives them a personality all their own :3 all in ll id give this picture 2 thumbs up and a couple of stars! very nice, auto fav <3

I really must ask, as I can't see an answer in the comments. What gender are they? Male-male? (Their chests both seem male) Male-Female (One's face IS slightly more masculine) or Female-Female (they both seem pretty feminine, IMHO)

Hate to break it to you sweetheart, but the beauty of being an artist is that I can draw what I want to. If you don't like it, don't look. And certainly don't lecture an artist about a piece of their art. It's quite rude.

Gorgeous piece. First one I've seen of a real bond, rather than the smut I've seen of na'vi...even though we can't say if they mate/breed like us or not.
The bond is much more beautiful way of mating.

Must have over looked that in the guide. I've just read that they are non placental mammals, and that bonding is more erotic than sex is to us. Their breasts are not functional either, I read.
Meh we still don't know and it's just wrong for us to pervert them like us when that is not the case with the na'vi. We don't have 100% confirmation that they have genitalia just like us until more movies, books or comics come out to give us that insight.
The guide only mentions the bonding as mating, humans don't mate like that or else there wouldn't be divorces and break ups, just life long commitment. It doesn't say they have sex, or intercourse in any way, just says that they bond.
In all honesty, the na'vi way of mating is perfect, more romantic because any couple is/could be allowed if it is under the will of Eywa. So there can be same gendered or opposite gendered pairs. That's neat if you ask me, not judging of them or tension of any kind like what we have here against gay couples. It's just neat.
Well, I still like how you have drawn the na'vi "bonding" others I've seen have involved intercourse or pin ups showing genitalia just like ours when we still don't have a clear understanding of it. I'm sure human na'vi hybrids would have anatomy just like ours but pure na'vi we are unsure of.
Still like your arts!

The Na'vi are monogamous creatures who mate for life. The intertwining of queues is both highly erotic and profoundly spiritual, but does not in itself lead to reproduction.[1] --- This is the excerpt from the book.

----
Not trying to Argue, but that's what is in the book and on the Pandora Wiki. - So... TLR they mate like humans, but bonding provides extra intimacy, and the First time they make Tseylu is spent just enjoying the bond.
Either way, I suppose we will see how they screw when the movie comes out on DVD. Cameron has confirmed that a deleted sex scene will be on it.

I have no idea dear. Honestly, I think she might be mistaken, since she was mistaken about what was in the book. My thought on the subject is just this, why would they have evolved breasts if they weren't going to use them?
They reproduce like humans, how else are they supposed to nurse their young? Unless they squirt milk out of their tails or something, the breasts should be there for a reason?

Oh wow...that would be interesting to see. I do hope they come out with more things to expand the universe and give us more insight into it. The guide seems to focus mainly on plants and not enough on the animals and natives.
Sorry about that, I guess I did over look that tidbit in the book... There is an interview I read with one of the character creators that mentioned that they are non placental mammals which is pretty odd cause they have belly buttons and if they are like us, what other way is there to have children. Guess that will have to wait until there is more info.
