I'd give that poor, sad looking kitty food, but I'd cut down on the treats and switch the dry food pellets to one of those "indoor cat" types of food that control weight better than the owner's own patience.
My cat always has food available that fills his stomach, but the food is such a mix that it doesn't give him too many empty calories.

I don't know why she's so fat really.
i feed her pet mince, made of assorted kangaroo bits once a day, with dry cat food always available.
however, if i don't feed her, she sits there and goes "mewwwwww" until you give up and feed her.

Try giving unsalted popcorn as treats if she meows. That's mostly air, but the cat feels as if their tummy's full... My cat's diet is tailored for him, and he's an active young kitty, so he's okay even because of that... Some cats are just chubbier
