Description
This is the view atop Siler Bald (elev 5216 ft), looking west toward Lake Nantahala (just visible below the setting sun). This gorgeous bald, located in western NC (Google Map's Plus Code: 4CQF+P5 Aquone, North Carolina), is a short blue blazed trail off the Appalachian Trail and not far from the Siler Bald shelter. My best memory of Siler Bald was a night hike to the top on July 4th. We were able to see distant fireworks displays in all directions. It was amazing!Related content

Thank you!! This was taken from atop Siler Bald in western North Carolina about 13 miles west of Franklin, NC (my hometown). It's part of the Appalachian Trail, a 2100+ mile trail connecting Georgia with Maine. You get almost a 360 degree view of the mountains...so the sunrises are pretty spectacular too.
