Description Inspired by the completely politically unbiased "Support Our Troops" spirit day at school. I decided to whip up a quick political cartoon about the whole saying and the flaws of it. In this context, "shoulder" is used to mean support without making it redundant, plus it also implies that the war is a major burden to our nation. And the skeleton? I just really needed to fill up some space and I thought it fit with the idea of the horrors of this war.

Keep it up! The world needs more politically active and aware work such as this.

Really good concept. Just curious, how much flak did you get from the school (admins & teachers) for this? I remember a couple times pitching cartoons for my High School "newspaper" (this is going back a looooong time ago) and getting shot down because my 'toons were insensitive or in poor taste. God forbid people be challenged or disturbed in any way. Oh shit, I'm rambling again.

Oh, I did this on my own, not for a newspaper, so that solves that whole dilemma pretty well. :\

Dude - I really like this. I mean - I'm for supporting our troops, just not the cause, so...In that light it has a different kind of meaning for me, personally. I don't know if it's what you intended or not, but it really gives me this feeling of, "We support our troops? Is that why we're sending them into an unnecissary war to be slaughtered?"

Anyhoo - I could have just gone on this huge rant, but I wont. The point is...I really like it!

Well, it's been a while, but this was in response to a school-sponsored "spirit" day that was modeled after "supporting our troops." So, I just made this to counter the argument of many pro-war individuals who use support of troops as a reason for silencing opposition by using that implication of wishing them to die. I don't really feel that a pull-out would work now, but the idea that people use (or, perhaps, used) this to infer a lack of patriotism always enrages me. Who is someone to tell other people that they're unpatriotic for having a difference of opinion?

And thanks, but don't worry about rants--go nuts! Keeping it in is bad for you, anyway. `,:\

So, basically, you're really cool. I basically agree, so there's no more ranting left to be done! Good job!
