Description
This is a map that depicts the territorial expansion of the Indian and Chinese empires (who'd have thought?). To make a long story about the same length, in the future, India and China have become the dominant superpowers economically and militarily. However, the two are very well-matched and hestitant to engage in any side conflict which may weaken them to a potential invasion or incursion by the other. Thus, weaker powers are able to gobble up parts of the world right under the noses of the Chinese and Indians. Realizing that their populations and influence should alot them more territorial possessions, the Chinese and Indian governments entered into a series of agreements under which they could invade nearby countries and imperial possessions without fear of reprecussion or sneak attack from the other. Although originally a ploy by China to force India to be weakened dramatically by its former rival, Pakistan, Indian success resulted in further agreements for the expressed purpose of expansion (from both perspectives). And now that everyone's lost interest, I present to you the drawing that outlines a key element of the sci-fi universe that's playing out in my head but about which few people probably care. :\

Cool!
I think that eventually the Chinese will want to pressure the Indians into more territory, or territory that doesn't allow for the Indians to mount an unseen invasion. They can easily accomplish this since they can easily control the waterways, thus the method of goods entering the Indian Empire.

Though China currently seems to have a more developed navy, by this time India would have caught up
enough so as not to be vulnerable. If anything, it may be more dangerous for China, given that it has
imperial possessions which are near Indian possessions but not connected to the rest of the Chinese Empire
by land so they would take more naval resources to protect. Plus, more territory often also means more
resources and a larger population to use as manpower in the war machine.

But this all rests on whether or not Britain wants to take back India. Cause you know they totally could.

At this point Britian v. India would be roughly equivalent to Britain v. United States--i.e. Britain could
inflict some heavy damage (especially with nuclear weapons) but there would exist no possibility that
they would actually win the war.
