Hibiki is generally a friendly, happy kid who loves to make people smile. Whether it's a funny song on her otamatone or a silly joke, she's an entertainer through and through. As you would imagine from someone who plays an instrument, she has an almost uncanny ability to find the right note and pitch she needs, and generally has a very sweet-sounding and harmonious tone in her voice. She isn't one to start conversations, but she'll talk your ear off when given the chance. Not only that, but she's just generally a smart cookie, and has really great patience.

She has been rather ambitious with her songs and has a tendency to practice the same song over and over again until it's perfect. She can also be very critical and nitpicky, even over the smallest of mistakes and errors.

► History: Hibiki was born in Okayama, Japan to a very musically talented family. Her mother is a violinist, her father is a musical conductor, and her older brother is a pianist, all of which were trained classically. As you would expect, her parents tried to get her into music very early in her life (around 3-4 years old). Turns out, she's a very good singer, so her parent taught her all sorts of songs. From Japanese folk songs like Furusato to even songs like Ave Maria by Schubert, Hibiki sang more classical songs than she could count from ages 3 to 10. She became sick of them, though. As soon as she would perfect a song, her parents would just throw the next song at her with no breaks. She wanted to play more of the fun, modern songs, but her parents, particularly her mother, insisted that the only music she would ever need to play was classical. That is, until the day before her birthday.

Her brother had taken her to go shopping for new music sheets. At the music store, there was the standard stuff, like music books, some instruments like guitars and violins, etc., but one thing caught Hibiki's eye: a hot pink instrument on display that had the cutest face. She grabbed it from the rack and took a closer at it. It was a thing called an Otamatone and it seemed easy enough to play. So she ran to her brother and ask if he would buy it for her. It looked silly to him, but she seemed like she really wanted it and it was the day before her birthday so he bought it for her, along with the sheet music.

That night, Hibiki went to the internet and did all sorts of research on the Otamatone, from articles to videos. One video in particular was particularly amazing: a cover of a video game song. Everything from the way the Otamatones harmonized to the general quality of the video blew her mind. She wanted in this "Otamatone cover" business.

And so, everyday, when she came home from school, she would go up into her room and practice all sorts of songs on her Otamatones, going from video game soundtracks, to anime soundtracks, to even original songs. Only her brother knew of her secret hobby until Hibiki's 16th birthday, when her family caught her recording one of her songs. Her parents were infuriated. She could have played any instrument, like a flute or a bassoon. Not some cheap toy! Her parents threatened to make her quit her covers or they would take her Otamatones and throw them into the dumpster. Hibiki started to cry. I mean, by then, she was an Internet sensation, with millions of views and fans from around the globe, so she couldn't exactly stop. Just as they were about to throw her otamatones away, with her kicking and screaming, her brother came in waving a letter around. Her mother grabbed the letter and read it, her eyes widening as she read. It was a letter from Hope's Peak Academy! And they wanted Hibiki! She could not believe it. Hope's Peak Academy: a school so prestigious and picky, not even her parents got in, just accepted Hibiki as the Ultimate Otamatone Player! She jumped up and down with joy that night.
