Usually leave it up to the buyer but i do have canon. keep in mind my cannon is based around my group.
He's a gargoyle in a sense. Usually creatures like this are bound to locations and temples within purgatory that cannot be inhabited by their original owners to protect. Gargoyles will never leave their post, remaining there for thousands of years. They are very powerful, creatures to be feared, its fairly easy to tie an unbound gargoyle to a location, but once they are their it is near impossible for anyone else to remove that gargoyle from guarding the spot. But that is exactly what happened to this guy. A very powerful demon lord commanded the gargoyle to serve him instead, the gargoyle ended up killing this lord. He ate the little lord, infuriated with being removed from his post. However he could now no longer go back and began wandering. A fairly peaceful creature sometimes bound to service by others due to his now exposed seal.
As for his colours, he is brown skin as shown above. the exposed skin shown in his 'mane' blooms into a yellow cream. As the mane travels down his back and over his wings it turns a deeper bolder yellowy orange, harder. The wings themselves are a light dapple brown. But like i said, up to you

He'd be pretty large, not much for powers, he has some control over magic but mostly relies on brute strength. He would be about eight feet. He does not own a weapon, using his claws and naturally armoured skin.
