It was finally complete, the one thing that could finally make him more helpful to the team; no longer would he feel the painful blisters on his hand that would interfere with his work, and no more would they complain about him being slow because of this. It would all end here... He picks up the saw blade as he lays his arm on the table, taking a breath before he starts to lower it closer to his flesh, his heart racing...
"Herr Engineer, vhat on earth are you doing?" He jumps slightly as he hears the familiar voice of one of his teammates, but sighs, glancing over at him through his dark goggles. "Ah'm doin' what needs t' be done, Doc... I cain't be the slow one no more... Ah gotta prove that I can be just as useful as ev'ryone else..."
Pyro watches in the background, extremely concerned for his friend as he holds onto said friend's stuffed animal. Pyro doesn't normally break from his own mind, but in this instance, the concern he felt for his friend was more important than any baloonicorn.
Medic steps forward cautiously, trying to reason with the distraught laborer, "Engineer, please, be reasonable. Do you really zink it's worth it?..." Engineer pauses for a moment as Medic says this, and looks at the saw once more before glancing at the gunslinger, his hand shaking slightly.
"...If it meant finally bein' some sort of help to the people who need ya most... Would you think it was?..." Medic sighs a bit as he finally makes it over to Engineer, slowly taking the saw out of Engineer's trembling hand. "Of course, mein friend..." Medic looks down at Engineer, who was visibly shaking as his hands tighten into fists, and reaches for the gunslinger, looking down at it thoughtfully before finally looking back at his friend.
"...You're really serious about zis?..." asks Medic gently.
"More than you'd ever know..." Although Medic can't see Engineer's eyes, he can still see the look of pain on his face, that being the final straw. He places his hand on Engineer's shoulder, making him look up at Medic, a serious expression on his face, "...Zhen... Why don't we put zis to zhe test..."
Pyro looks on as Engineer follows Medic to his operating room, his expression of concern all but masked and ignored, and he can simply wait outside the room, looking down at the engibear in his lap, and thinking to himself as he rips the bear's right paw off...
"You'll never know what you have till you lose it..."
