I have a question: what (or who) are platelets? Isnβt that the scientific term for one of the four main types of cells that make up blood?

Platelets are scientifically one of the components that make up blood.
But, this is fan art for a biology anime called "Cells at Work/Hataraku Saibou" where platelets are little kinder garden children whose main job is to
colt up blood in the body, vey much like the real platelet.
