Description
Two custom Super Mario Kart racers that I made from heat-fuse Perler beads and Hama beads. On the left is Magikoopa, on the right is Wario. I don't recall seeing anyone attempt a custom Magikoopa sprite for this game before. I've seen a couple spriting attempts at a SNES SMK Wario, but they were too large to blend in with the rest of the racers' height of 32 or less pixels tall.I have several other custom 16bit SMK racers that I'm in the process of finishing. I plan on also taking one final group photo of all my custom Mario Kart bead sprites, along with the game's original character beadsprites, once I finish making the last few.

Are you aware that in Nintendo Power (Issue 94, March 1997) there was a preview in the special feature section that showed an early screen shot from Mario Kart 64 that showed both Magikoopa and Boo as playable characters?

Actually it was DK who replaced the Magikoopa/Kamek character. Wario was in earlier screens for the game to. [link]

Actually, he was replaced by Donkey Kong.
I remember seeing Wario was also in the earlier pre-release screenshots for the game alongside the Magikoopa/Kamek character.

[link] Here's some beta screens of the game.
And yeah, I don't get why they couldn't of had 9 or 10 characters in the game instead of just 8.

Not all the information (or at least in text) is 100% accurate, but they do have alot of cool pictures & stuff on Mario wiki.
It might not of been Kamek from Yoshi's Island though, and might've just been a generic Magikoopa. (Though, I suppose back then that SNES YI game was still fairly new, so ya never know.)
I always liked Kamek, I must admit.

They were originally going to put Magikoopa in Mario Kart 64. I wonder why they've never ended up putting him in any Mario Kart game yet. They really should!
