"Just once I'd like it if a new heroes arrival where there was no fighting at all involved, I've heard that sort of thing has actually happened once, but it sure wasn't in Chicago. This one actually ended up being one of the weirder cases, I'm still sure something else was going on there. The call was a pretty standard one, unknown new super having a panic attack in the middle of town after appearing in the middle of the street, and apparantly she'd been fighting when she got caught up in whatever sent her here (and I really wish we could figure out why that keeps happening or at least predict when people are going to be popping up), get out there and deal with it.

Well Hikari and I were on greeter duty that day, but I wasn't able to head there immediately, had to deal with a really badly timed bank raid by the Black Cross Legion, so by the time I got there things had gone south, there were a lot of things buring and Hikari and the new arrival, Miss Martian Rei here where knocking six shades of hell out of each other. Apparantly Rei's a lot more sensitive to fire then Hikari is, because, for what she told me about it earlier she'd gotten Rei calmed down pretty quickly, then the next thing she knew a fireball goes whizzing past her head and Rei goes nuts. So I started putting out the fires while Hikari's trying to knock out Rei without doing too much damage. Then about the worst thing that could have happened did, Rei tossed Hikari into one of the fires and she got burned.

Now for those who don't know, Hikari-chan's Martian DNA is actually White Martian, but it only really shows up when something that panics her happens, like her getting burned, so she shifts into her white martian form (and no that doesn't mean her skin turns white it means she turns into something that lookes like it'd be a good prom date for a xenomorph) and she goes shooting into Rei and sends them both plowing through a building and then start playing rabid cat at the scratching post on her.

I managed to get over there and give her the cool down hug which basically means I bear hug her and hope she doesn't remember she can shape shift before she calms down enough to remember she's not a homicidal monster, sometimes I'm able to calm her down by talking to her like that, sometimes I have to body slam her into the pavement a couple times (and I'm glad that isn't nessicary often, she keeps telling me it's okay, do what I have to but I feel bad about it for weeks every time). Rei's basically out like a light at this point so I managed to calm Hikari down enough for her to change back to normal we restrained Rei and got her back home for the usual q and a.

Well Rei was actually, for an Ayanami anyhow, really friendly when she came to, said she was sorry about all of that. Course she said she was kinda surprised to see me wearing a shirt, and without red skin and horns, and seeing Submariner R really confused her, the exact quote was something like "Saotome I thought you said you didn't want to be the sterotypcial Robin and not wear pants." In fact about the only thing she didn't bat an eye at was the hulks, though she did ask where we kept our tree. From what the interviewer was about to piece together she comes from a really odd fusion verse, elements of at least six different traditional verses. I've read the full report and....well it's a very very weird verse it seems, apparantly hulk out inducing bananas, age raising and lowering pills, giant growth inducing lasers and chocolate gives you a body type like Blob are all things no one bats an eye at over there. Makes me glad about my homeverse being relatively normal at least. And we've got some evidence that at least one villain from her world came along, apparantly the Hive leader is really good at playing with fire...I think Rei said her name was Azula...."
