Powers: Showtune can control sound waves to a degree, and like a human boom-box, she can project music and sounds from her mouth via the device implanted in her throat as a substitute for her damaged vocal chords. She can take the music she is playing and manipulate the base until it is strong enough to actually blast things back or cause major vibrations that can shake things up around her. Her cyber implants, being her left eye, left ear and the device in her throat, can all be upgraded with new programs and such, although Showtune isn’t likely to hand out the access code to just anyone. So far, only her friend Adam and the doctor who implanted the technology in the first place know the code.

Weakness: Any sort of jamming signal shorts out the devices and inhibits her ability to focus. That would also mean that she would have trouble seeing or hearing with her left eye and ear, and her voice box might not be working properly. Her cyber parts are susceptible to viruses, just like any other kind of computer chip, and if her systems were ever to be wiped out, Adam is the only one with everything backed up for her. (He keeps telling her that she should do the same, but she keeps forgetting.) Surprisingly enough, her electrical circuits aren’t affected by water, which is a good thing considering they’re implanted inside of her and the human body is made mostly of water.
Although her injuries from the car crash are mostly healed, her legs are still stiffer than she’d like and start to hurt if she is too active for too long. Showtune also only has basic hand-to-hand fighting skills, although she works every day to improve that. There is always room for improvement though. On a more personal side, she would do just about anything for her friends, even at the cost of her life. She believes that everyone is better than she is and that her life is less important than the lives of others. So if giving her life would somehow ensure the survival of her betters, so be it. She still feels guilty for being one of the survivors of the crash.

Strength: Showtune is strongest when she is most focused. This would typically be when she thinks someone is in the most peril or after she’s just been training for a decent amount of time just beforehand. The more she practices with her powers, the stronger she gets, though she can still make mistakes; she’s only human. Her daily work outs and hand-to-hand combat training are helping her to get stronger physically, and she can hold her own in a fight if she must.

Personality: She usually keeps to herself and is fairly quiet, especially since she can’t really talk anymore. As excited as she was when Adam managed to create a program that would allow her to semi-speak, she knows the cut-and-paste nature of her voice freak people out. As such, she’s more likely to stay silent in the presence of new people than to try and initiate conversation. The more comfortable she is with people, and if she’s sure that they don’t mind, the more likely she is to be loquacious. She’s a bit of a sci-fi, movie, and music geek. She misses being able to talk and sing with her real voice.
All around, she is a very selfless and caring person, but especially after the crash, she doesn’t think she deserves the life she’s been given. Part of her reason for going to Jump City to talk to the Teen Titans was in hopes of being able to help. It’s as if she thinks that helping to save others will help pay the debt she owes to whoever allowed her to survive the car accident.

She had a few close friends and was content to keep to herself. Surprisingly enough, considering her introverted nature, Miri enjoyed performing. Be it playing alto sax in band, singing in the chorus, or the occasional theater performance, Miranda loved music, and it was one of the few things that can get her out of her shell. Perhaps it was merely because it gave her a chance to be someone else for a while, and she could still take the ‘mask’ off at the end of the day and be herself again.
She and a couple of her friends were driving to the concert of someone’s younger sibling when a drunk driver came careening down the wrong side of the highway and hit the car carrying Miri and her friends head on. It was a miracle that anyone was pulled out of the wreckage alive, although both Miri and one of her friends who survived sustained heavy and irreversible damage.
The whole left side of Miranda’s face had been turn up by broken glass, resulting in the loss of her left eye and the need for some sort of device to replace her damaged eardrum. A prosthetic eye was given to her, as well as a special hearing aide. Her throat had also been badly carved up, and the doctors regretfully admitted that the girl would never speak on her own again. Modern technology was such that hopefully, they could devise a program that would allow her to speak again, but the exact device or program needed had not been invented yet. They did, however, insert small device where her vocal chords should have been that could be accessed remotely should the right program be devised. All three devices were surgically attached to her nerves so that she could control them as she could have their real counterparts, only the cyber implants allowed her extra options that the real counterparts never could. All three devices were set to allow for future downloads or upgrades so that they could be kept up to date with the world’s rapid advances in technology.
Miranda’s legs were also both broken in the crash, but luckily, she did not have to have them removed. She would spend months doing physical therapy to regain the use of her legs, but they would always be slightly stiffer than they had been before the accident. Meanwhile, Miranda had to finish her junior year at home while she finished recovering. The loss of her voice hit her the hardest, as she missed being able to sing most of all. She soon got used to the altered depth perception with her prosthetic eye, and she eventually got used to her hearing aide, but she missed that which it seemed she could never regain.
Luckily, Miranda’s friend and neighbor Adam was a bit of a computer nerd, and when she was finally well enough to leave her house, she spent time with him in his basement, where he took it upon himself to write up programs for Miranda’s betterment. He managed to fix the program controlling her eye, letting her choose what color it was at any given time and allowing her to actually watch videos in her left eye like on the screen of an iPod. He also upgraded her ear piece to allow for recording and playback, should she wish it. It took a lot of practice to get used to these new abilities, but gave Miranda something to do, and it prevented her from giving in to despair.
It was also during this period that Miranda discovered that she had other new abilities to deal with. Perhaps it was the hearing aide that really allowed her to realize it, since she could control so much of what she heard with it, but Miranda discovered that she had some power over sound waves. Able to concentrate and direct them in a specific direction, Miranda was able to send out bass waves powerful enough to knock things back or cause major vibrations in the area around her (much to the annoyance of Adam’s family when they had to replace all the windows in the house; they’d thought it was an earthquake).
Finally, Adam managed to construct a program that would allow Miranda to speak, but there were some limitations. Using sound bites of Miranda’s past recitals and shows had only provided him with a certain amount of words to put into the program’s database. The rest would have to be pulled from other places, which is where her ear piece’s recording devices would come in handy. As long as she had the word on digital file, she could use it. This was why he also uploaded as much music from his and her iPods into her ear piece’s memory as possible to give her as much variety as he could manage. The resulting voice sounded like Bumblebee from Transformers, a hodge-podge of voices all strung together, but at least Miranda didn’t have to write out everything with pencil and paper anymore. On top of that, she could also ‘play’ music through device in her throat, like a human boom-box. Adam’s next project is to see if he can get her system to take in radio broadcasts as well.
Upon hearing about a group of kids in Jump City called the Teen Titans, Miranda decided she needed to make a trip. Her parents were reluctant to allow her to go, but when she told them about Cyborg possibly being able to help her, Miranda’s parents couldn’t refuse. Promising to keep in touch and visit often, Miranda traveled out to Jump City to find the Teen Titans and ask for their assistance. She hoped Cyborg in particular might be able to help her with her new electrical components and maybe continue the progress made by Adam in regards to restoring her voice. Adam, in the meanwhile, would continue to work on the project himself and send Miranda updates whenever he could.

Occupation: 12th grade… she should probably be enrolling in a high school in Jump City, which might conflict with her hero duties, but it would be interesting to see how she deals with that

Other: Miri is predominantly left-handed. She tends to act bolder in “hero mode,” seeing as how it’s a chance to be someone other than herself for a time. It’s also an attempt to throw people off so she’d be less recognizable in civilian mode. In addition to her bolder attitude, she also wears music-related markings on her skin while in "hero mode" as well as adding blue streaks in her hair... just because she can. She uses make-up to cover up her scars as best she can.
