Practising hair.. I suck at it and it takes forever to paint and I don't like it.. *crySo I tried messing around with values, depth of field and poorly rendered hair strands.Ā
Anyway, haven't really drawn this character recently so I thought I'd give him some attention.
I've been really sick lately so this is all I've done..Ā

I'm trying to do like a one drawing a day thing. The reason I think this way is actually completely natural. I watched this video, and it explains why I am this way (as well as other artists and their learning habits). To break it down, basically my ability to 'see' the faults in my own and others' work is higher than my actual skill level. This is why I do not consider myself as good as other artists, even if they're not necessarily better than I am, it's just the way I am.. Drawing everyday is definetly a good practice to have be a habit, lately me and a friend give ourselves random challenges to make ourselves better. Like, for example, I challenge them to draw bigger and bigger because it bothers them that they draw so small, and they challenge me with different clothing and muscle exercises. I think their next challenge for me is to draw an animal;;;
Challenging yourself to create a habit such as that can be difficult, but it certainly is worth it. I'm glad you're pushing yourself to improve like this :'>

I actually post quite alot on Tumblr now, I'm definitely more active over there to be honest, I'm just not getting as much from here as I used to. I've lost alot of watchers, pretty much 90% of them now have disappeared, de-actived their accounts, unwatched, or gotten bored of my inactivity. Oh well, I've gained a bit of attention over there now, alot more people than I expected seem to like my work. *Shrug*

Do you think maybe we should try some of these challenges sometime? Like, randomly one day, I'll send you a note with a command stating something along those lines or something XD
I'd love to discipline myself properly through art, but when I'm at home I just seem so distant and procrastinate alot with my art... I've tried writing out a list of one or two things to do, but I just end up 'forgetting' about them and go to watch YouTube. (Albeit, useful YouTube videos centered around art, but that's beside the point)

I don't know, I guess I'm fine. I need to draw more, as usual. I just paid for my college classes and they took into consideration my AP Studio Art grades and such, so that went well.

Same here, ever since I became inactive on deviantART a couple of years ago, (and pretty much as soon as I suggested to try out semi-realism), my watchers have been slowly leaving. I've been very slowly gaining some new ones due to my Homestuck obsession caused by Tumblr, but still.. I only get about 20 favourites on average now, and that's including fanart... Sometimes I question myself whether people actually like my work, and then due to my perfectionist nature, start to doubt my own abilities of pleasing people.Ā
I'd love to start soon, though due to this artblock it would probably take me about three bajillion years to complete even the simplest of challenges.Ā
How much did you pay, if you don't mind me asking? Do you have a job? o:
