Description
"Wahooooo Dryft!! I'm so excited we get to study FIRE together!" Nymble leaped into the air as they exited Ms. Netty's humble magic class.
"Mmmh." Dryft grunted, no excitement what-so-ever from the red stocky brother. He really wasn't excited. Magic was interesting enough, but it was also scary how powerful it was. He almost only felt the need to learn so that he could use it as a means of defense, if anything. And the fire element appealed to him because perhaps it could provide warmth from nothing. Dryft hated the cold weather.
And the very first homework assignment of his very first class? ...Stand outside in the frigid cold.
Needless to say he'd immediately regretted this decision.
He scowled at Nymble on the way out-- his brother was also responsible for helping to convince him to take the same element. The fact that Nymble, of ALL Wyngrew in the town wanted to learn FIRE seemed... well, kind of sadistic. His scars from months past were still so raw. Dryft wondered if they would ever heal, or if Nymble would use magic eventually to remove them.
Dryft thought it was Nymble's strange sense of pride in that he didn't want to show weakness to the element.
Truth be told, Nymble was terrified. But he masked it with his peppy, determined personality.
Nymble didn't waste one moment as soon as they were home to try out this new ability. He immediately started doing jumping jacks inside the entrance way.
"Come on Dryft! Let's work up a sweat! Can you count my jumping jacks? 1....2...3... um.. 4..."
Dryft sighed, deciding he better go along with Nymble before he put it off until the last minute. He really was just dreading the cold.
"Alright, but count your own jumps." He then began doing push ups and holding several hand stands to build up a sweat.
He looked over at Nymble several times in amusement, because the guy looked like he was going to pass out. He was over-exhausting himself jumping around like that too quickly, but he was so determined that he never stopped. Dryft wondered if he would do a face plant in the snow as soon as he stepped outside.
There was something nagging at the back of his head though. It had been there all day, but the intense workout was really starting to bring out a bad headache.
Looking over at Nymble though, who was the scrawniest bipedal around, keep going like that-- How was Dryft to quit first? Pride kept him working through the pain.
"Okay come on let's go! Let's go!" Nymble began rushing out the door to the cold outside, dragging his brother along with him once they had both been working out for several minutes.
Nymble did a weird sort of "jog in place" once he reached the snow, trying to keep up his body heat.
Dryft attempted something similar, continuing his push-ups and trying not to think about how cold his little feet were right now. It was torture. And the headache! Augh! Which one was worse?!
"How long are we supposed to do this?" Dryft asked, since he wasn't noticing any change at all, whatsoever.
Nymble kept on trucking away with that weird jog, "Huff... Um... Huff... Ms. Netty said if we get too cold to go in... Huff!"
Dryft paused for a second and watched Nymble, "...Are you getting cold?"
Nymble shook his head frantically, "No I think this is really working! I'm actually burning up a bit! It's kind of a weird feeling!" He furrowed his brow and tensed every muscle in his face, and Dryft could swear his brother looked like he was glowing red. Was he really doing it?
No way. If Nymble was already getting the hang of it, Dryft couldn't stop and let his brother show him up. He'd never hear the end of it!
Just a little more... You can do it... just a little pain.. Ow... augh... You can...
Dryft realized too late he was going to be sick. The combination of such a bad migraine and the intense workout resulted in him losing his lunch. It was painful, but mostly humiliating. Especially in front of Nymble. The last Wyngro on earth he wanted to show weakness to.
"Whoa Dryft! Are- are you okay?" Nymble quickly ran over to pat Dryft on the back, and the touch resulted in Dryft quickly spiking back from it. "Ouch!" Nymble's paws were on fire!
"Huh?" Nymble retreated his paw and looked instantly confused. When Dryft was done coughing, he looked back, regretfully at Nymble, and this time he really did swear that he WAS glowing.
So much for increasing his body heat-- Nymble was skipping right ahead to melting stuff, including his own back.
Dryft wanted to say something, but he couldn't. This whole thing was embarrassing. It wasn't fair. How did Nymble get that so quickly? And how was he supposed to learn ANY magic when these damn migranes were always in the way!
He turned around and began to run back inside, away from Nymble.
Perhaps next week's ability would be better...

Awwww.. Poor Dryft! ;3; But I'm sure he'll get the hang of it! He's tough!
And I'm impressed! I didn't think Nymble would really get it that fast, I always thought it would be Dryft. O___O

Haha, right? Nymble's weirdly a natural, and he doesn't even have to try at all. It's weird. But there's actually a reason for all of this that will be explained slowly over time. ;]

Ooooooooh.... Mystery... I like it! But I like how contrasting it is too like, Nymble being the not so serious type gets the hang of his skills first, while the one who's somehow expected to be able to get the hang of it in a snap, is having a hard time.
But I guess passion playd a big role in it too. X3
