I thought it would be so fun if Mimikkyu copied other popular Pokemon aside from just Pikachu.
The little stick it carries will probably be a weapon of some sort, so I thought it would be fun if those were all unique as well.
(This is seriously the best region so far. So many creative and interesting designs!!)

for me i absolutely loved the concept, i mean we've never got a ghost pokemon covered in a sheet (i mean the 1# classic ghost costume is a white sheet with black eyes on it), it's typing is very viable in competitive play, and the face drawing on it's sheet just screams ghost and you even see that type of face drawing on many horror monsters with a burlap sack on their face
so in quick summary, people need to stop being so picky with designs and just appreciate what Gamefreak gives us!

Someone actually came up with a cool 'theory' of sorts. Mimikkyu would evolve after building friendship, and you actually get to see what they look like because your kindness boosted his/her confidence.
