What do you guys think happened to Alexander Zangiev?

(Btw. I thought this happened right before Yuriys and Boris’ walk through the snow )

Thought about it more. I rather think they put those kids to intense experiments than simply kill those who don't reach the desired standards. Good guy Vladimir never loses his faith in his students. But those kids who don't make it during the experiments... I think they had to find a way to get rid of the bodies without drawing too much attention to it. A growing abbey cemetery could turn out suspicious. So rather make the bodies disappear? I think they went hard on Zangiev after his lost battle. And maybe he couldn't manage to come out alive of this hellhole.
