New Sonic game coming out, and it doesn't have Sonic in it! It's called Shadow the Hedgehog, and he packs a gun. A GUN!! The idea so amused me that I drew this comic. For a video of Shadow in action with his gun, go here: [link]Much later edit: If you've never played Sonic Adventure 2, in the end of it, Shadow basically dies. The Shadow game has to retcon how he actually didn't die. Hence the joke.

I'd probably appreciate this a lot more if I actually played Sonic Adventure 2. For being a fan of the Sonic franchise, I am woefully ignorant about the games. I guess that's because I never had video games growing up.
Nice comic, though. From the date, I see that this was made at a time when Shadow the Hedgehog was just coming out. I liked the Matrix touch. I was half expecting Morpheus to say "Take the blue pill, you wake up in your bed and believe what you want to believe about your abilities. Take the red pill, and I'll show you how powerful you can become."

He got his gun because SEGA put up a poll long ago asking what you would like to see in a sonic game and kids picked a gun. Shame.

...that's kinda sad, if you ask me. I'd settle with a comic con Shadow costume (which I hope to do) and that's it...but devoting your entire life to BECOMING Shadow?..that's just a waste in MY opinion, anyway.
