I believe that's the correct term ... anyway. I got Corel Painter 9, and I was experimenting with the brushes and things. This isn't my best Mecha, but it's not bad considering I drew him freehand in a new program I barely know how to use.Anyway. Expect more digital paintings in the near future. Painter is a whole new world ...

That's simply AWESOME! I can't belive you did it on your first time using Painter! I loved the style you gave to the picture, a dull background with Metal Sonic's face very bright and mysterious, with the looks of a painting... Really cool!

Is Corel Painter 9 also referred to as Painter? Because I've heard of the wonderful outcomes of using Painter. And this seems like one of them. Beautiful work.
I love especially how it looks like it's been carefully painted on a traditional canvas. It looks like one of those "Self Portrait" pics, only of Mecha. I love the glow on his eyes and the lighting. Your depth perception is impeccable. I love it!

Corel Painter 9 is indeed the 'Painter' everyone refers to (technically, 'Painter' is any program 1 through 9). It kicks ass, but requires a lot of patience and practice.

Not nessicarly. Anyone who suggests that you 'need' a certian program or brush or paint to become a better artist is probably just trying to sell something. While nice tools are, well... nice... they're just that, tools. They're only as good as the person using them. Hard work and practice are what's most important.
Not that Painter isn't nice... because it is.

Corel isn't all that great. I actually find PhotoShop Elements to be much, much better to use.

Chilling.. but I like the purple you used as highlights here. It makes him seem more.. metally. XD
Painter confuses the heck out of me. I'm not familiar with all the mediums it has programmed into it, and I can't even figure out the default settings everyone uses. It's so complicated. @_@ Good luck figuring it out, but you seem to already have quite a hold on it already.
