Description A page I decided to do to work on my watercolor skills (I haven't painted in a good week or two). I was looking through my dog book to look at a group I'd like to do and the toys (although not my favorite) seemed perfect. They're eaasy to caricature (note the poodles), and are varied in appearence.

Breeds included:
Pomeranian (those two are actually some of my favorites out of the set)
Miniature Poodle (my favorites of the set)
Italian Greyhound
Papillon
Shi Tzu
Chinese Crested
Pekingese

And some humans one being my MG character Leah and her IG Dasha, and a French arostocratic lady with her pompadoured-up poodle. I love how the big floofs on the poodles look like cotton balls :3.

Leah belongs to me, while Dasha belongs to Payna/Basi (I adopted her, after all).

AW! This is so cute! My toy poodle gave birth day before yesterday night and I was wondering if you could make a toy poodle with pups.
I'll be uploading her picture with the babies tomorrow or day after tomorow, so you can keep chacking if you want
I would really like you to see my gallery and know what an expert thinks

Naturally, I adore this to pieces. I'm with you on toys being easy and fun to caricature, I've played around with that myself lately. The French lady + poodle = WIN, I love the colours you picked and just how the poodle's looking up at her like that, that is adorable. Dasha and Leah are precious, I'm wanting to see you do Kaylynn and her person now. I love that Peke on a pillow and all the pompoofs and Dasha doing the Iggyball. <3 and I like how you exaggerated that one fawn and white IG head, though I would yelp and cry bad breeding if I saw one like that irl. xDD

Seriously, so much love, Merc! Toys in your style with your watercolours just made my afternoon.

~ I'm glad you lie the French lady; I'm rather proud on how it turned out :3. The one poodle (the paricot one on the top) looks a bit like your Rebecca (who I am considering adopting).

~ Leah and Dasha are such a cute dog-owner couple. I'm glad I snagged her from Payna/Basi. Kaylynn and Cindy (her human) will be coming soon... :3.

omg eeeee!! that would make me ecstatic if you adopted Rebecca. <33 I was even considering just taking her back to play myself, since nobody seemed to notice her, but if you're interested I'd be more than happy with that arrangement. Playing Louie opposite you with her would be fun! :3

Indeed, and I see that you might be getting her into Flyball as well -- I personally volunteered Penny, of course, and Kite. x3 I love Kay, of course, so I am looking forward to seeing you paint her.

I will try my best then; I'll see if I can apply tomorrow :3

Mhm; having Dasha in a sport'll be good to bring her out of her shell. And she'd love to meet some more sighthounds (she's already met Bloodstone) :3.

Is the Chinese Crested the naked spotted one with the toupee? He/she is cute is a kind of over-the-top punk sort of way. Your watercolor looks grand, as always. Hee, the birdies in the lady's bouffant coif! Marie Antoinette or one of her peers?

It is :3. It's most likely one of her peers; she'd be done up more.

The poor puppy! I'll keep my furry cats.

I'm so glad I do not live in that time era, I don't have the patience for the sort of layers of clothing the ladies had to wear. Then again, I'd probably have been a peasant or one of the working-class, so no problem with fancy clothes.

Same here; their clothes just seemed so...uncomfortable. Which isn't quite my thing :3.

One of my friends in the SCA shudders over the amount of layers the Elizabethan costumers have to contend with. I think the French court clothing would be even more challenging. Can you imagine wearing that in the summer? No wonder ladies fainted a lot.

Awwww, cute! <3 Love all the toys!

Are those Papillons or Phalenes? The ears looked kinda small and extra curly so I thought they were Phalenes. :I

They were meant to be Papillons...but, their ears are a bit small...well, close enough :3.

Zahzumafoo In reply to Nettleurgy [2008-08-27 01:41:31 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, really small. And unusually curly- Papillons have kinda straight fur on the ears and cheeks. It's butterfly shaped!

Bleh rat dogs. I do like Chinese Crested, though. Peruvian Inca Orchid (or whatever) are win, however.

Inca dogs are okay; I like Crested a bit more. I wanted to try something different, even if that meant drawing something that in reality, I didn't much care for.

I like that they're bigger. Powderpuff crested are bleh. Along with Shih tzu's and Lhaso Apsos. The way the coat is, eh, I just don't like it. But I do love Afghan hounds :V That doesn't make much sense. I like toy poodles. Puppy trims are adorable. Pekingese; bleh. They're like walking pillows. Japanese chin are... Creepy looking from the profile view. Eee. I love Japanese Terrier's spots. Scottish terriers are always win. Though... My absolute least favorite has to be the Dandie Dinmont. Freaking ugly ass dogs.

I have to agreed on not quite liking Dandie Dinmonts.

My aunt had a Shi Tzu; he wasn't show quality or anything, but he was a sweet little dog :3.

Poodles and pekingese are rather fun to draw; they're just different looking. The walking pillow metaphor's quite accurate :3.

My favorite dog...hm...probably greyhounds. Such easy-going dogs.
